Palin address

Q: What's the difference between a hockey mom and a pitbull?

A: Lipstick.

I like Sarah Palin.

Btw, I went to see my parents tonight... partly to watch Gov. Palin speak. Of the two conventions and all the speakers, she's the only one who seriously interested me.

The next time I see any of the Presidential campaign on TV will probably be Sept. 23. I understand that's the date for the first debate for POTUS.

In the meantime... go Sarah!

Be interesting to see if she is still on the ticket on Election Day. Her ex-brother in law has it out for her..

Originally it was "soccer mom" that was a noted voting bloc. Apparently the phrase originated in the 1992 or 96 elections (according to Wikipedia) which rings true with my recollection as well. James Carville at work.

So what does the Republican adoption of "hockey mom" indicate? Palin's characterization as a hockey mom as a "pit bull with lipstick" was funny and effective. Are they a little tougher, a little more defensive? a little more aggressive? I'm not sure I really like the image, but I also think I am overanalysing it perhaps.

methinks other people ought to be afraid of Sarah Palin, she isn;t afraid of nothing

Sara Palin is proud of her record in Alaska, and her state surplus. With the unbelievable runnup in energy, the state coffers are filled to overflowing.

Alaskans have no income tax and their gas tax of 8 cents has been rescinded.

On top of this, every single man woman and child this year will get a $3,200 payout, thanks in no small measure to the efforts of Sarah Palin, the state's Republican governor. That's $22,400 for a family of seven, like Palin's.

Isn't it interesting that while the rest of the country struggles, Alaska makes even more money fro the high price of petroleum.

Wasn't all the oil in Alaska owned by the federal government and why don't all the people of this country share in these natural resources?

How would Sara perform in a state like Connecticut that doesn't have any oil income? I guess they would say, if you don't like it then move to Alaska, and that's a thought.

9:29 I was reading today about the "budgetary constraints" felt by many other states haven't been as "constricting" in Alaska.

Personally though, I like the fact that she took on the good ole boy network and clobbered 'em.

We need some of that in Washington where people like the Ob-Gyn, Republican Tom Coburn MD, are being threatened with sanctions for delivering babies... while the likes of Republican Ted Stevens work in a biporkisan fashion with Byrd (D-WV).

Quod... my guess is that Sarah Palin called herself a "hockey mom" before she even got into politics.

As for the Republican adoption of the phrase... I suspect McCain's "strategy" people heard her words and simply liked the phrase... so they'll try to use it to their advantage.
