Cheshire Chamber Notes 8/12

I get weekly emails from the Chamber of Commerce. It typically discusses items of interest to both the Chamber and the town in general. But I'm also glad to see all the stuff that is happening within the business community. Here's an excerpt from the 8/12 email:

In just 6 short weeks, The Fall Festival and Marketplace will be held on Saturday, September 13th at Bartlem Park. Vendor applications have been mailed and information is available on the Chamber website. Secure your spot! The vendor booths did sell out last year. There will be a Friday night kick-off concert featuring Eight to The Bar. You should have received a request for a Silent Auction donation. Anything at all that you can donate will help make this a successful part of the festival. Call the Chamber at 272-2345 if you have any questions.

The Southington Chamber of Commerce upcoming Chamber Cup Golf Classic is to be held Wednesday, October 1st at Hawks Landing Country Club in Southington. We wish them much success.

Premier Martial Arts, located at 1070 So. Main St., hosts a parents night out event for it's students and friends from 6-9PM on the third Friday of every month. This month the kids will play summer games, work on team building projects and enjoy a "make your own" ice cream sundae bar! Call Mr. Arute at 439-2000 or visit their website www.pmacheshire.com. for more information or to pre-register.

MidState Medical Center is planning an "Expansion Project" Groundbreaking Ceremony and Business After Hours on Thursday, September 4th from 4:30 to 6:00 p.m. under a tent in the new employee parking lot at 435 Lewis Ave. in Meriden. There will be hot and cold hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and soda. Meriden, Southington, Cheshire and Wallingford/North Haven chambers are partnering for the After Hours.

With more than half the year behind us, keep your calendars clear for the following Business After Hours for 2008: September 23rd - Apple Valley Bank & Trust, October 20th - Oktoberfest at Watch Factory Restaurant, November 18th - Opticare Eye Health Center, and December 11th, Holiday After Hours at the dental offices of Marc Craig, DMD.

Chamber meetings for the week are: Marketplace Committee: Tuesday, August 12th at 4PM and Golf Committee Wrap-Up Meeting, Wednesday, August 13th at 8AM. All meetings are held in the Chamber Board Room.

Cordially,
The Chamber Staff

Until I got this email, I had no idea there was a Friday night kickoff event. I don't recall that ever happening before, but I think it's great. I just hope that we'll all be able to enjoy the fireworks on Saturday night.
