The entire turf discussion (1 of 3)
Here is the first of three installments of the entire video on the Ecke/Altieri Artificial Indignation Turf. Btw, "the embarrassing speech" is in part 3. And I'm still not sure at what Councilman Ecke's speech was directed. Too bad the Council Chairman didn't ask him to explain further.
Regardless of whether you're a D or R (or anything else), I think anyone making "the embarrassing speech" should have been told to give explicit details... or should have left the Council Chambers. But hey... is "decorum" the issue? Or is it really an issue similar to the fund balance policy... an issue which was voted upon right after the majority stated (paraphrasing)... "we won the election. we'll rubber stamp do as we please!" Tim White
p.s. Some Council members were bellyaching about how late the Turf discussion went. Keep in mind though that the turf discussion followed discussions on both the trash facility and the pavement management system.

So Florio says the turf committee will report back to the BOE on their findings. The BOE will decided ultimately whether or not to proceed with the project.
The turf committee will be stacked with people who want the turf so it's obvious what their report will end up recommending.
The BOE will likely vote to approve the acceptance of the report and the proceeding of the project.
Then of course, the dem majority on the council will vote to also proceed with likely comments to the effect that the BOE has studied this project and they've come this far, so to vote against it would be unfair, etc, etc.
I can hear it all now and it's sickening to say the least.
Tim keep us posted on when this meeting will take place...
According to an email response I got from Bob Behrer (chair of the turf committee)he said the turf study committee meetings will be open to the public and he was going to have the town manager post the dates of those meetings. He also said he expected the meetings to begin in the beginning of August.
Bob Behrer is a pretty open minded, non political guy
Behrer is from Long Island. I'm sure he'll want this town to look like Jericho Turnpike or Sunrise Highway
