My concerns about the economy and the teachers' union contract

At this moment in time, I would very much prefer a one year contract. That's because I fear in the next few years that America's grossly irresponsible fiscal policy and grossly negligient monetary policy may come home to roost. As for the possible consequences of The Incumbent Party's failure of leadership for the past several decades, one particular economic concept and a real life example comes to mind:

hyperinflation and the rise and fall of the Weimar Republic

Btw, I'm astounded at how many times the Ruocco / Florio / Slocum video has been viewed - nearly 150. If you look at most of my video clips on YouTube, they're more in the 30 to 40 range. It must be because it front-paged over at UTH!

Let's see how the Herald reports this. They probably won't mention Florio's "foot-in-the-mouth" remarks.

To the best of my memory (and I followed it quite closely), The Herald never reported on my seemingly easy and definitely appropriate, but interestingly unanswerable question "how many teachers do we have?"

However, the Herald did allow LTTEs to mention it. But neither the articles, nor the editorial ever touched it... even though hands got thrown in the air and the meeting immediately adjourned.

I know some of the regulars here were at that meeting. So despite the lack of reporting, others can confirm my take on that particular meeting... which was "downstairs" and not televised.

Tim: How dare you attempt to put things in a historical context in Cheshire? We must remain ignorant so that things will continue to look rosy. Don't you know anything?!

Of course everything is rosy!

We will have turf paid for by more debt state taxpayers will be paying for decades after the turf is replaced--and beautiful sidewalks in front of car repair shops paid for the same way

We will have an outdoor pool which turns into a indoor pool and a $400,000 energy subsidy--as long as oil stays at $60 bbl ...otherwise we can pay more so folks can catch rays in July instead swimming in a cost efficient enclosed structure

and let's not forget, we can have hi rise rental housing in the North End, which Marty Coburn insists will create a boom in net tax revenues.

There's no need to worry about recessions, peak oil or credit freezeups. Our wise and progressive local leadership will make sure Cheshire is immune to these perils mere mortals fear.

Believe me, I thought about that comment long and hard before posting. But it is factually correct that I followed that and never saw any reporting.

Tim: The "historical" comment refers to the Weimar Republic note you posted.
