A letter from the Engineer, P.E. (hWg 45)

I got this letter from Norton Boiler Project's "consulting engineer"* yesterday:I also have a copy of the punch list. I may add that tomorrow, but figured I'd let you start by digesting this.

Tim White

* I use the phrase "consulting engineer" to indicate that he's not a town employee.

So it seems that someone was out to get CT Combustion and now it's the engineer's turn to get trashed.
Why do certain people try blaming others for their screw ups?

The plot thickens.
I wouldn't be surprised if Mr. Petrescu files a slander lawsuit against the town for the statements made by Mr McKenney. Mr. Petrescu sounds a lot more convincing to me then McKenney does. It sounds like he is just trying to cover his butt.
You can't let this go Tim.

FWIW, we're now on hotWatergate - installment #45. Unfortunately, I feel like Speaker Nancy Pelosi circa 2005 / 2006.

The only way there'll ever be a complete understanding is for the current rubber stamp majority to get the boot.

And if you agree (or disagree), I encourage you to write LTTEs. Without people writing letters and demanding accountability (not demanding a certain party be the majority... that's irrelevant)... then we'll never get to the bottom of this, including such issues as:

1) The disappearing memo and
2) The ten day delay in the release of The Corruption memo.

With regard to the comment "the engineer was completely wrong," based on my memory... the engineer relied on a vendor website. So a more accurate statement would be attributed to the vendor website.

I’ve been trying to comprehend PBC Chairman’s recent comments on this issue. Now the engineer’s memo must be added to the mix. Having watched on a number of occasions where town building officials have clearly let this owner of property and other property owners in town down with poorly performed inspections missing important issues, to say nothing of the sloppy state licensed workers who actually did real poor quality unprofessional work, I am not in the least surprised as to how this one high profile job is turning out. It appears to have entered into the final character assassination stages based on the recent PBC Chairman’s video taped comments.

Based on PBC Chairman‘s statements on video tape I’d have to say he and possibly the town government body he represented have an axe to grind against engineers practicing here in this state. The chairman came across as someone who’d rather deal with a plumber for engineering design work then an engineer. Of course at least in this state that violates many legal requirements in addition to common sense issues. The PBC should have a better understanding of the needs for formal engineering calculations, engineering specifications, engineering designs and competitive bidding in public building activities. This project in particular has shown that the PBC and town municipal work organizations don’t understand how to conduct building projects.

It might seem that the contractor gets special treatment and consideration.

The owner Matt Bowman is a really nice guy. He serves on the Inland Wetlands board and makes his house available for the many Democratic functions. Some people are just jealous.

He's generous with his donations to artificial turf also.

I watched the meetings on TV when all this went down. You may say a lot about MB, but "nice guy" isn't one of the descriptions that came to mind.

This comment illustrates some of the problems we have. MB should have gotten the job because he is nice or holds DC meetings at his home?

There is a reason why we can't find any pork rinds when needed in this town. And it has a lot to do with the players of HotWatergate.

"It will not costs Cheshire one penny more". Did someone say that at one of those meetings and will we every find out if this is true?

What happened to the "punch list"?
