A blogger's photographic take on turf
I just got an email from a resident offering these comments and photos:
I'm sending you these two pictures of the CHS field again so that maybe you can get them posted to your blog. I took them just about two weeks after school ended...just after the last of a years worth of sporting events, and after the CHS graduation (with the entire senior class and their parents, relatives, etc trampling the field on a day that had light showers pass through during the ceremony). As anyone can see, the field is not beat up.
Truthiness?? A picture is worth a thousand words.

Maybe it could be awarded Beauty Spot of the Month by the Cheshire Herald.
Maybe we need to buy some field software to determine when the field needs to be inspected.
Instead of using their heads, the people that are pushing the turf are using another part of their bodies for decision making. Maybe they should be called Turf Heads.
I have to laugh when I hear proplr say that the turf will safe us money in maintenance. This is a filed that will cost over $1 million to install and is suppose to last 10-15 years (which I highly doubt it will go beyond 10).We spend $100,000 a year plus maybe another $8,000 to $10,000 for maintenenace to save how much?
I continue to question how they expec the town to take care of this field when they aren't taking care of the fields that we already have?
Maybe if Florio lived in town and paid our high taxes, he might start looking at what is real needed and stop asking for fluff.
It's a matter of perspective. If you don't have to pay, then so what.
It's time to get a supt that lives in town and who cares.
Why doesn't he give back his raise for the turf if it is that needed.
The turf ad hoc committee is a joke. Their first concern, or so they say, is to look at whether turf is safe or not. No one on the committee is "qualified" to say that it is safe. They can only rely on studies. Since Blumenthal has criticized the Consumer Protection Safety Commission's recent study as being flawed, the turf committee should postpone their discussions until an acceptable study is done. Or better yet, cancel the project, return the money, or ask that it be redirected to something Cheshire really NEEDS.
What a complete waste of time and money. These people must have more important things to worry about in Hartford and in Cheshire. What the heck is going on???
