Playground bill

I noticed this comment on a previous post: "they should give (the turf) money to the folks trying to get the playground for physically challenged kids."

So I did a little searching on the CT General Assembly website and found this bill:

AN ACT AUTHORIZING BONDS OF THE STATE FOR A BOUNDLESS PLAYGROUND IN CHESHIRE. (click on the caps to see the bill.)

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives in General Assembly convened:

That the State Bond Commission be empowered to authorize the issuance of bonds of the state in accordance with section 3-20 of the general statutes, in principal amounts not exceeding in the aggregate one hundred thousand dollars, the proceeds of which shall be used by the Department of Education for the purpose of a grant to the town of Cheshire for a boundless playground.

I think what I find most curious about this bill is that it provides money to the Department of Education. Yet, if the playground is built (as proposed), I can't see any relationship to the schools. Go figure.

Let's see, $100K for kids who need help or $850K for the most physically gifted children in our community

Cheshire will not get any money from the state for either project. NOT becasue the state is stopping pork, no all of the bonding money will be going to needy communities. We won't see a dime. So everyone here will not have to worry about taking the money or not, because it is going some where else.

Tim...who is responsible for putting these bills forward...give us a name and how we can contact them to say enough is enough....this is why taxes are so high and now they want to raise them even more...cut the pork

I'm pretty sure it's Mary Fritz who put the bill through for the turf field.
