Electricity reform
In early 2006, Gov. Rell and AG-for-life Blumenthal both called for action on electricity reform. Nothing happened.
Last fall, one of Cheshire's own legislators promised us there would be a "special session" on energy before 2007. Nothing happened.
The week before I went to Nicaragua, I saw a quick blurb somewhere about Speaker Amann promising to present legislation on electricity reform to the public within a week. Again, nothing happened.
Don't be concerned though... I'm sure something will happen this time. "This year's legislative session ends June 6. (Energy Committee Chairman, Steve) Fontana said he expects the committee's leaders will meet privately with the House speaker and Senate president to hammer out a compromise in the coming weeks." Maybe their inaction shouldn't be a surprise though, considering how vastly different the views are within the leadership of the legislature on this issue.

and nothing from the Republicans except a quick and dirty proposal to cut the sales tax. guess their lobbyists don't want much change.
If they were smart they would all agree to Rell's proposal to set up a DOE but at the same time charge the new dept with fixing the mess not just getting new office furintire.
2:11 despite my aversion to new gov't beaurocracy, my sense is that most legislators don't grasp much about "energy," certainly not transportation energy.
So the state would probably benefit from getting some experts to tackle the issue... and I don't mean those people in Amann's task force.
I saw them once on CTN. A few seemed quite knowledgable, but several seemed to be in over their heads... Cheshire's own energy commission adds more value than Amann's task force did during that one meeting.
No offense to the members of the task force. I just think they probably shouldn't've been asked in the first place.
