1/2 million dollars

At one of the budget workshops this week, Bob Korten brought this advertisement that ran in the Cheshire Herald last fall. Bob asked about the comment "Through Tom's efforts, Cheshire received in excess of one half million dollars in additional education grants."
Bob asked the Town Manager (and Superintendent??) to confirm the accuracy of that statement.

No one was able to confirm it. Can any of you speak to this? I know I can't.

The town manager told me that we did not get the 500,000 in additional educational grants. I stated this at the work shop. This faults statements in the paper lead me to make and incorrect comment at the capital budget meeting last summer. It goes to prove never believe a politician.

Gaffey was quoted today in the Courant telling the Democrats from the "rich" towns to pound sand

I suspect we are deemed "rich" by Gaffey.

We really did get reamed in the 2002 reapportionment. The Senator from the 13rd District will always put Meriden ahead of Cheshire and we can do nothing about it. The Record-Journal will play cheerleader to a trained chimp as long as he has a 06450 zip code

It would be nice for proof this claim. In all of the public meetings on the budgets this has never been mentioned.

There is no need for proof. Just ask the town manager if we recieved the money and he will say we did not recieve any additional educational grant money. It is not mentioned at meetings because people do not read anymore.
