Maybe he deserved to be charged. We need some more information though. As a parent of kids in school I just wonder if this incident happened in some unsupervised place or out in the open?

If it was some unsupervised place how could the highly paid administration and staff allow this to happen? If it happened in plain view out in the open how dare the administration and staff allow this to happen.

We are paying way too much for a school system which is not a safe place for our children. Something like this should never happen while school administrators have full responsibility for the safety of our children.

Time for an open investigation and if school administrators and staff have in fact not been maintaining safety with all due diligence it is time to begin terminating those who looked the other way.

I don't see how staff can monitor every public space at all times, unless we hire many new monitors for halls, bathrooms, etc. Just like the police cannot monitor every public space at all times.

14 is old enough to know you're supposed to control your anger and not assault others.

Where he caused serious bodily injury -- a broken hip -- this assailant should have been charged with felony assault and battery. Oh, yes, the liberal criminal enablers will whine, “But he’s only a child!” (These are same ones who make excuses for adult criminals).

The message being sent by his being under-charged with simple misdemeanor assault is: if you cause egregious bodily harm, you’ll only get a slap on the hand.

944 a.m. - - people deserve to have all the facts before deciding that it would be impossible to adequately supervise our children and maintain their safety. It was only about a year ago that another assault took place at lunch time in a line in the cafeteria at CHS. It too sounded like a case of school administration and staff shirking their basic responsibilities.

If the school administration and school staff members cannot guarantee our children will come home in one piece after a day under their direction they should be removed from their positions and replaced with new serious professionals immediately.

And of course I'm just waiting to see what facts will be divulged in the all but certain to be filed law suit against the school and the town.

RE: "On the Town Green beat him and his parents".

That's what they do in Singapore (well, maybe not the parents), and they have a very low crime rate as a result. Just like we used to when we actually punished criminals.

Singapore's criminals get the message: you will never assault anyone else again. Period.

The assailant is on the high school baseball team. Has not been removed yet.
