Turf study committee recommended

Turf was on the agenda for the BOE tonight. And an anonymous poster said (on another thread) that the BOE recommended that the Council create a Turf Study Committee.

And since it appears I'm no longer allowed to attend Council meetings and ask questions that are not pre-vetted... I do have one question that I'd like answered about the turf:

What were
the criteria used by the state in determining that Cheshire should receive $525,000 for turf?

ECS has a formula. PILOT follows the same logic, as does the Pequot funding.

Again,
what criteria were used?

Tim,
I'll tell you right now, if this turf issue comes to fruition I want a referendum on the removal of all the dandelions from my organic lawn. If I have to pay one dime in taxes for artificial turf for a sub par football team then I believe the tax payers of Cheshire will not blink an eye paying someone to organically kill my annual dandelion population. Does this make any sense to you or other bloggers? I would like some feedback. Hey I got a great Idea, why don't we remove the bubble from the pool and use it over the football field and make it a domed stadium!! Thoughts?, got to go now..time for another martini.

Once more, if the town is going to the pork trough let's do it for a pressing neeed (replacing the pool bubble) instead of anothr stupid nickle and dime luxury item the town can do without

I'm guessing the criteria were
1. We don't currently have a turf field.
2. We have the financial means to purchase and maintain a turf field.
3. We have a history of strong high school athletic teams and that would benefit from a turf field.

Sounds like you had too many martini's. That's my thought Mike!!! Get real!!!!

The "martini" was a metaphor, I hope you understand that. You can't disagree with logic and common sense, can you?

P.S. It's funny how we have the same unique first names, goodnight anonymous wherever you are.

The State is doing another study to determine if the turf fields are safe. Why does the BOE have to do their own study? The study group will be loaded with all turf supporters. There will not be one person in the group that knows how to do unbiased study. The Supt is so arrogant he does whatever he wants. He needs to go.

I recall Mary Fritz saying that we should ask for money for a permanent structure over the pool a few years ago. We didn't ask for one? I guess our majority TC must of have asked for the turf? Being a majority of D's in Hartford Mary Fritz can deliver the PORK. Why did our TC majority push for the turf? Is it a campaign promise to the athletic supporers? This is not needed and it's NOT SAFE for our athletes etc. The extra money needed should not be spent. To answer your question it's who you know in Hartford.

who on the council has the gall to actually suggest we take this money and inevitably end up paying out of pocket in the long term?

These guys, Hall, Ecke , Altieri think this town is their personal playground......

The first thing Hall, Altieri and Ecke will say is that "if we don't take the money some other town will get it." They've already said this. Altieri has been pushing this for a long time. Ecke and Altieri have a conflict of interest and should not even vote on whether to accept the funds. The town council should either agree to ask that the funds be redirected to the pool or they should refuse the money. Turf is unsafe and will cost us tons of money in the long run (despite the numbers that committee will create). Please write letters to the TC members and the Herald rejecting this whole project.

Why leave out Esty and DeCaprio? What makes you think they will not for this?

If I have to hear again from the AD that this is a "community field" I will get sick. Maybe I should ask him if I can practice my chip shots when they don't have football games. I wonder what his answer would be?

$525,000-Turf
$500,000-Canal walk
$500,000-West Main St streetscape
$1,525,000 -Total
These are ballpark figures. That's over 1% of our budget for things that we don't need for football games to continue, ability for us to walk(we have seven miles)and be able to do the things that we do on West Main St. If you take this figure and multiply it by only 100 other cities in this State out of the 169 that might get these grants, you get $152,500,000. We could reduce our State and Federal spending and save many people some money or spend it on better on things. Just a thought.

Altieri has promised a turf field and that is the main reason he was elected. Altieri has delivered the baseball fields now he has to deliver on the turf. I agree that neither he nor Ecke should vote on this because of a conflict of interest. I also agree that this has never been a community field until turf was proposed. The only thing that this field is used for other than school sports is the Relay for Life and that is for one weekend out of a year.

Mary Fritz delivers the pork. Is it because she wants us to forget that her son was the I84 inspector that inspected nothing at a cost of millions to the taxpayers? Would he have gotten this job if he weren't lucky enough to be the son of Mary? Is he an exception or is he just the tip of the iceberg.

Remember we are paying for all that pork Mary delivers. The more pork for stupidness, the higher are our taxes and the fewer businesses that will be willing to expand or locate in CT.

Pork deliverers are like drug dealers, they make you feel good, but they really don't give a %&$# about you, the pork doesn't cost them anything and they don't care whare it comes from. Can you believe that you actually pay for the pork and they use then use it to get your vote so that they can stay in office and take care of their friends and relatives.

Remeber how Chris Murphy attacked Nancy Johnson's pork, and now now that he's in office he loves delivering the pork. If you don't know what you want, Chris doesn't care, here's $500,000, come up with something. It's free money, a gift from the Gods to your local TM to show you that the TM has pull.

Hmmmmmmmmm, pork.

Pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork pork, pork, pork, pork, pork, pork pork .................

Want some more pork? It's free. Remember, if you don't take it, someone else will.

If the Boe comes up with the extra $500,000 for this deadly synthetic turf field their budget should be audited. If something if found, heads should roll.

You may recall when I asked "how many teachers do we have?" (and no one knew the answer.)

Well, following that question (and being both new at this and being told by many that I was "unfair" and "uncollaberative") I did a simple comparison of the "audited BOE financials" to the BOE minutes.

The two did not agree.

You want a real audit? Nothing would surprise me.

these aren't the droids you're looking for. move along.

Don’t waste your energy - it’s already been decided.

The town council will, in a 5 Dem to 4 Reps, appoint a committee of turf supporters. The committee will request $14,000 to have Milone and MacBroom look at it. The Cheshire Herald will announce that their poll showed that 99.6% of the residents want the more shopping and turf now and that residents just can’t wait to meet their friends at the ball field. The other .4% represent the “against everything” that were even against global warming and is just a group that nobody listens to. The Turf Committee will unanimously approve it. The TM will determine who the contractor will be and then request bids. Martin Cobern will write the final P&Z approval for the turf application. A copy of the P&Z final approval will be leaked. P&Z will get the turf application, supporters will be wearing their "YES" buttons and then the final approval will be read, no questions of answers will follow and then the vote will be taken and a 7-2 in favor vote will be recorded. The Cheshire Herald will report the project approval and that the project will be good for the environment, good for the wildlife, good for everyone’s health, it’s a win-win and will be used 365 days a year. The TM will request funds for Milone and MacBroom to oversee the construction. Construction will begin, but before construction begins, a second committee will be formed to determine what went wrong and what can be done to fix it. The second committee will request funds to have Milone and MacBroom provide engineering services to determine what went wrong. Everyone will say, it sounded so good, who could have expected this? The TM will say, because of possible litigation, he doesn't know what is wrong and that the public can't be told what is wrong. The second committee will offer two solutions: replace the turf or return to natural grass, but the natural grass will require an in-depth environmental impact study to determine all the risks and a cost benefit analysis. The natural grass will be found too expensive and the only solution is to seek a grant to replace the artificial turf.

Mary Fritz and Chris Murphy will offer to help and special executive session of the 5 Democratic members of the town council will be held.

Save 9:14's post. I believe you are our modern day Nostradamus and have nailed it down to exactly what will happen!!
