Number of pool users

For those of you who are curious about the actual usage of the pool, the Council was given these statistics recently:Speaking of people using the pool, I hear from them. And the common theme is that even the users are frustrated with the financial cost, the energy wasted and the bubble "environment" during winter. However, people seem to be very happy with the programs offered and the staff. So as much I want to move past the bubble, I need to point out that I feel the staff are doing a really good job.

In looking at these user numbers, it seems to me that a smarter course of action would be to cut our losses on the pool and make it a summer facility. Then we could take the $430,000/yr subsidy and just build a whole new, normal-sized pool with a permanent structure. Seriously, I bet that would be less expensive than what we've got.

It's really too bad that they have not been able to get us the amount of residents who actually use the pool. The day users, I am sure, are many repeat users.
Do the "daily visit" numbers include swim team use?
It is quite obvious that the town really only wants a summer use, community pool and that is what they should do. Keep the bubble off and see if there is a way to build a smaller, enclosed pool off the hugh school somwhere. But only when it is fiscally feasible.

Past pool referendums-Wanted to comment on the past words of wisdom. build a smaller pool. You will be laughed out of the swimming community. We had 8 or 9 referendums since the 60's all voted down because the pool designs were too small. 6 lanes 4 lanes even 8 lanes. The only ones getting to use it would be the swim Teams. This is why the large pool was designed and built to accomodate large numbers of people. thanks

"Laughed out of the swimming community"??
Do I really care?
Are they the new majority of our community?
It's funny how well they did before we even had a pool and now they will dictate what we should do?
Let the "swimming community" pay the $460,000 if they are so concerned. I just read that they are complaining about how much it is already costing them.
The day we let the "swimming community" tell us that we should continue to subsidize this fiasco is the day we should disband all swim teams.
I understand that we need to have swim teams as part of our extra curricular activities, but at what expense?

Again the general public really doesn't know all the facts about the use of the pool. The swimming community is all the people that use the pool. The swim teams are a very small part of the paying users. The greatest amount of money comes from the great job the staff does giving swim lessons. thanks

And how much of the "general public" uses the pool?
Please enlighten us if you have those answers. How is the "general public" suppose to get these answers? The town does not keep track of individual residents that use the pool on a regular basis.
Weonly get totals, which could mean the same people going 4 or 5 times a week.
Until I see that at least 30% of the town is using the pool, I will fight to make it a summer only (which seems to be the time most residents use it) or close it. It is not fair to the tax papers to continue to subsidize this when we voted to have a "self- suffiecient" pool 10 years ago.
Please don't say "the general public really doesn't know all the facts about the use of the pool". unless you have the facts and are willing to share them. If you do, why hasn't it been brought up yet?
