Blogging the 103rd

Al Adinolfi is accepting public funding for his campaign (MRJ).

And speaking of the race in the 103rd... if you're going to make charges of this or that, that's fine with me. But you're going to have to substantiate your claims... or I'll be deleting your comments... particularly the smears along the lines of "wait until the truth comes out."

Why wait? If your claims are true, then it should be easy to find links to reputable news sources and include those links right here. If you don't, those comments will be deleted.

And as always, if any of you are interested in doing your own front page post, feel free. But you will need to substantiate any facts that you offer.

Shouldn't the candidate themselves have the burden of explaining why their resume--from start to finish--qualifies them to represent Cheshire?

Haven't we had enough surprises in public life?

yes.

Haven't we had enough surprises in public life?

yes.

But with technology today, it should be simple enough to substantiate any facts.

Can we make false claims if the Cheshire Herald makes the same claim?

One problem is when a newspaper has a favorite they do no investigation into their guys or girl's background. So then, when legitimate charges are raised, the defense is the newspapers didn't print it, therefore it must not be true.

For example, the NJ press knew for years McGreevey was gay but decided it wasn't the public's business to know.

Good for the NJ press for not running that story. Bad though when they let him disguise his corrupt practice of hiring his boyfriend when, if I recall correctly, he was entirely unqualified...

Just like William Fritz, son of Mary Fritz, who was entirely unqualified for the I-84 Chief Inspector job.

As for increasing public awareness of issues which you feel the press has ignored...

If you include your name in the post, then go for it. I won't delete it. Though if I find it inflammatory, I'll likely call you to confirm you wrote it.

As for the press covering more angles to various stories and doing more investigative work...

I had a reporter tell me that a serious problem they face is a lack of time to "go to the coffee shop" and listen to the gossip.

If they had the time, they could do more investigative work. Instead, real reporters (such as Greg Hladky) get laid off.

It's tough times for the media. There's huge upheaval. They need to figure out how to transition from old media to new media... and not stop turning a profit during the transition.

"they do no investigation into their guys or girl's"

Wow! are you saying that the press can be biased?

Could this explain why the Cheshire Herald picked up in support of the Esty/Hall shenanigate story and never questioned why they waited to raise their vicious charges? issue for months. Does it explain why the Cheshire Herald didn't apologize to the people they attacked when it became very clear the whole episode amounted to nothing dishonest or sinister?

Could this explain the Herald's overwhelming support for the mall and their attacks on anyone who believed the town would be better served by not changing the zoning of the NE?
