Clinton Crossing

Clinton Crossing is adding four stores (NHR, by Steve Higgins) I wonder if W/S is hoping to include stores similar to those of Clinton Crossing? Geographically, I think they would do well... drawing from a larger range of people. Although I've heard from some Cheshire residents that they would like to see less expensive stores... just not the big box stores.

Yes if we got a Clinton Crossing in our town it would be great! But lets not stop there lets get some great condos up there too! And we should put up a Lowes or Dicks and maybe a movie theatre

Or just leave it alone and give a tax break to the owner?

What's so great about Clinton Crossing? A bunch of stores and a big black parking lot. What a beautiful sight!

I'd rather see shops like Clinton Crossing has than a bunch of high end expensive shops.
Just arrange the outlet stores in a unique set up...with winding paths etc., benches, eating areas. That should satisfy those looking for that lifestyle look (whatever that means).
Oh, and of course, skip any residential units - we don't need them.

I agree about the residential - leave it out!

First of all, the town can get more tax revenue by developing this zone as it is currently zoned. If the owners are sure that they can not change the zoning to allow for other uses that would pay them more, they will look for companies that conform to the zoning. This is exactly what happened with the land on which WholeFoods occupies. Remember the owner lost in his bid to change the zoning to allow 200 apartments.

The North Interchange is no different. Reject the text change snd the owners will really look for a buyer who conforms.

As for people that ask for more restaurants, Cheshire has plenty of good restaurants and close by to the site there are many in Southington. Most of these restaurants are local in nature, not national chains that pump out the same monotonous fast food.
For those people that want more restaurants, start trying what you have available. If you're tired of our restaurants, it won't take long to tire of the chain food ones.

As for giving a tax break to the current owners, I don't think the town would want to go down that road and you have to realize that the owners are not a few widows on limited incomes, these are business men who invest their money under a risk reward basis. You don't have to feel sorry for them, they can take care of themselves.

Think about where the " Clinton Crossing" and "Westbrook outlets" are located . No other major shopping within 15-25 miles by car, boat or plane. We are lucky to have shopping so close 5-7 miles and you do not need a boat or plane.
