And the Council Chairman is...

Wikipedia's Wikiuser7777 is reporting that the next Council Chairman and Honorary Mayor for the Town of Cheshire, CT will be...

drumroll, please...

Tim Slocum!

Obviously nothing is official until the organizational meeting on Monday December 7. But I think Wikiuser7777 knows his/her stuff. And for the record, I have no idea about the true identity of Wikiuser7777... though based on the contributions, s/he certainly appears to have some connections to India.

Congratulations Mayor Tim Slocum! Good first move by the new Republican caucus toward restoring good government to Cheshire. The town will be well served by Tim as mayor and chair.

Tim Slocum is a good choice. Neither overbearing nor a withering violet. A decent, well liked, home grown guy who owns a local small business. A refreshing contrast to the slick lawyer and big moneyed interests who ran the last council.

Oh we have a big surprise for the republican town council and will drop it at the first meeting in December. This will ruin their holiday.

9:13, pleeeze, don't send mike ecke dressed up in drag. nothing more appalling than an unconvincing drag queen with smeared lipstick and bad clothes.

Hopefully the big surprise is that the 2 lone Dems will act like adults instead of crybabies.

When will you and the minority dems realize that you actually lost the election by an overwhelming margin. The people of this town have spoken, isn't that enough?
Do the dems want to start playing games with this town? It wouldn't be a wise decision.
Move along and let the town begin its recovery from years of ridiculous spending.

Anon 913:
I doubt there is any bomb you could drop that you wouldnt have dropped during the campaign. Stop being so bitter and angry. The election is over. We all need to be positive now, and work for the good of the town.

"work for the good of the town."

C'mon, Dems don't don't work for the town. Ecke works for the turf heads and Justin "Mall Man" Adinolfi will continue to work for his clients.

No surprises here.

The surprise will be if Sheldon Dill does the honorable thing tonight and either recuses himself, or votes against the turf because it hasn't gone through proper BoE process. Sheldon has it in him to do the right thing, but does he have the courage?

I don't think Shallbe Dull has the courage...

As a dues paying member of the Chamber, I would hope he wouldn't take part in any last minute shenanigans. If he does, I will make sure I contact every member and force him to resign his position.

As a Democrat, I'm shocked that Ecke, Altieri and Bowman are squandering whatever last bit of credibility the party has by trying to pull this fast move on the turf, which is really just their own personal pet project. Sheldon, please step up to the plate.

The only bomb that will get dropped is the stink bomb that is the turf report. Once the report is delivered, the stench from the report will linger on for months.

But the question is who will actually show up tonight to speak for/against the appropriation? The last time a turf vote was taken only 1 person had the courage to stand up and speak against the turf.

Go to the meeting tonight and speak up because you all know THEY will be there in force in support of this vote.

What do you wanna bet, they'll replace Adinolfi or Ecke w/Bowman.

or maybe Ecke will be replaced by Altieri. whatever. cant imagine it would be very pleasant for either of them.

It doesn’t matter whether Ecke, Altieri, or Bowman fills that seat. Any one of them would be an unelected, affirmative action interloper.

It won't matter if you show up at tonight's meeting. The dems consider it a done deal and will vote in favor of the turf. Hopefully one or more of them will recuse themselves and the vote w/end up in a tie (failed vote). But regardless, I see no reason why the R's can't reconsider the vote at a later meeting. Maybe they'll again consider redirecting it to another project. This turf grant is good for ten years. They could sit on it for all that time. Either way, I believe the R's know it should go to referendum and it'll be the publics' choice then.

But once we accept it, we have to use it. Revoting on it 2 weeks later will not matter as the money will be accepted by the town.

6:52, maybe, maybe not. there may be some other legal technicalities and options. stay tuned...

If the Dems vote for the turf and they rip up the field using the $500,000 they will come crying that they need more money to complete the field.

At that point, the R's should simply vote against giving more money and let the turf head raise the rest of the money.

No more money! No more money!

Why is everone crying that the present field is in bad shape now? Who is responsible for the maintenance? Why did it happen? Or was this done on purpose? Someone should look into this matter. If the field is in poor condition why has it taken this long for the white flag to be raised? Someone messed up. Find out, because if it is as bad as some say maybe we should postpone events or move them to a differnt field before someone gets hurt.

Tim, request a copy of the field maintenance log. Any time a chemical is applied, including line paint, fertilizer, pesticide, lime, a record has to be kept since it is public land. See if the BOE stopped maintaining the field around the time the turf discussions began.

For the record, Fenway Park is still a grass field used more than 160 hours per year. How is that possible? They maintain the grass in between games. Cheshire should try that!!
