A holiday poem by Sue Zentek

A guest post:

The holiday season is upon us and everyone is busy shopping and preparing for the festivities. Whether you have a son serving overseas as I do, or know someone who does, I hope you'll take the time to think of them and of all of our servicemen and women who might not be home with their families this holiday season. Whatever you're wishing for, I hope you'll join me in this one simple wish for their safe return home.

Holiday Wishes

Winter arrives
And snow begins to fall
Thanksgiving is over
Everyone heads to the mall

The lights brightly shine
With sale signs in every store
The wish lists get longer
The kids just want more

The presents get wrapped
And put under the tree
The families gather
But there’s one I don’t see

He is carrying out his mission
In a place so far away
His safe return home
Is our only wish on this day

Nice poem. Thanks to the Zenteks for their family's contribution to the military effort. I personally pray for the troops every night. My brother did a tour in Afghanistan and I have to say it is very nerve racking to get the minute by minute news of deaths, bombs, etc.....thankfully it seems to have calmed down quite a bit in Iraq at least. God bless our troops....and those waiting at home for their return
