I'm sure you already know this guy (Council, at-large)

I think this Council candidate probably doesn't need an introduction, but here he is:

So glad he's back in the race!

Looking forward to his reasoned, logical, and common-sense approach to government. This town needs Dave Schrumm on the Town Council.

Great just what we need more arrogance on the Town Council. Schrumm is anti spending, anti town personnel, anti evrything except senior services, thats where he hangs his hat. His time has passed, retire gracefullly your like a bad penny......

12:19 & 1:13 one in the same, I'm sure. So who's the moron? Better check your spelling.

I can tell you we are not the same person. I wrote the 1:13 post only. Is my spelling all that you can find fault in? 1 word was spelled wrong and that is the best fault you can find. Get a clue!
You need to find a candidate that understands local finances and can attend council meetings with a goal higher than maximum face time on TV. Schrumm does not care about what this town needs, only cares about Schrumm. Anyone jumping on his bandwagon does not care about this town.

(P.S. - I spell checked this for you so I know everything is spelled correctly.)

Good God!! Make a remark against one of Tims false Gods and he removes it from public view. Way to have an open form of democracy Tim. You are a hypocrite! Tim wastes hours posting b.s. about hiding behind the annonymous button only to delete postings he does not agree with. Might as well return to British rule if you are going to censor a persons freedom of speach. Schrumm is the worst person for these times and you are carelessly pushing him on the residents and voters of Cheshire

The White family should be ashamed of your abusive disrespect of our Constitution and Rights!

Anon 4:07
So how is Schrumm the worst person for these times?
He won't spend money we don't have. He won't roll over for every request for more funding for more town services?
Just what is the right person we need for these times?
You have to give us more than you "just can't stand the guy...because he is usually right. You remember...the way your mother used to be when you were a small crybaby out shopping for necessities with mom and you asked to buy the that toy you didn't need.

You liberal dopes don't even know what you want but you know you don't want any discipline.

God help us!

4:07 I didn't delete your comment because you equated Dave to the taliban (OTT IMO, but not cause to be deleted).

The reason I deleted your comment was what followed your Taliban comment. I presume you recall what you wrote. And I'll continue to delete any such comments.

10:39 says "Schrumm doesn't care about what this town needs..."

If you can stop your bashing for a minute, I'd like your answer to "what this town needs." What is it that you think Cheshire needs? Who would be your ideal candidate and what characteristics should they posess?

"You need to find a candidate that understands local finances and can attend council meetings with a goal higher than maximum face time on TV.

Hey idiot, have you looked at Ecke lately?
He has no clue about finances and he is our budget chair. Can't even deliver a budget on time.

This current majority has done nothing but put us deeper in debt. Schrumm will stop the bleeding and ge us back on the right track, provided the Dems don't get the majority again.
Many may not like the decesions he has to make, but he is doing it based on keeping this town afloat.
He is the RIGHT man for the job!

How many times has Schrumm held up a bid process for b.s. investigations? How many times has he requested studies and never reviewed them? Unless you are a senior like him, he does not care about you. Voting for Schrumm is like voting for the Taliban

(Tim said it was ok to say that)

Taliban means "student of islam" yes then he the right candidate. May Allah bless him.

It sounds like you have been reading the Koran a little too much lately.

Schrumm if fiscally responsible as oppsed to the current majority who is fiscally irresponsible.

Whether you like it or not, seniors are an important part of our town, I am not one yet, but God willing I will be. I would hope that I would be able to continue to afford to stay in this town when I am one. Otherwise, we would have a glut of families moving in which would put a burden on our schools and other facilities.

Do you think under Schrumm we would have "given away" a right of way for $10 so a developer could build an additional 24 condos?

Do you think under Schrumm we would be dropping thousands of dollars into a pool?

Do you think under Schrumm we would be foolishly wasting money on a program to figure out what roads need to be paved?

Do you think under Schrumm we would be paying people to tell us what is wrong with the pool or what roofs need to be replaced on the schools?

You say that Schrumm "held up the bid process for b.s. investigations"--I say he is doing due dilligence for this town.

I am not involved in the political machine in this town, just a concerned resident who is fed up with the ridiculous over spending that is going on.
We need someone who understands finance to help lead this town--Schrumm is perfect for the job.

Notes from another liberal dope...hurry up the bid process so we can just get it done...you know the way we got the pool built so brilliantly.

I guess we know where you stand on national healthcare legislation. Guys like you will soon be marching off to the gulog with the rest of us if the new marxists in Washington have their way and you're too blind to even see what's going on.

Your good intentions and quick fixes will bury us.

"I would hope that I would be able to continue to afford to stay in this town when I am one. Otherwise, we would have a glut of families moving in which would put a burden on our schools and other facilities."
-What happens when you die? Are we expected to make your home a national landmark so nobody lives there, raises a family and puts them in school?

"Do you think under Schrumm we would have "given away" a right of way for $10 so a developer could build an additional 24 condos?"
- Schrumm was at the meetings and never said a word for or against.

"Do you think under Schrumm we would be dropping thousands of dollars into a pool?"
-He was on the council that approved it. If it were to fail, it would be forever tied to him as a town leader.

"Do you think under Schrumm we would be paying people to tell us what is wrong with the pool or what roofs need to be replaced on the schools?"
-Pool, see above. The schools have been getting new roof sections for the past 20 years. Replacing part of the roof is not the same as replacing the whole thing.

"You say that Schrumm "held up the bid process for b.s. investigations"--I say he is doing due dilligence for this town."
-A few months ago, it was pointed out that Schrumm tried to steer a firetruck contract to his brother.(and Dave works for him on and off) Schrumm made the fire chief findout why nobody bid against the winning bidder. Enough time passed with his request that our town had to start removing items from the truck to keep it within the winning bid price. Otherwise, the fd would have needed to request more money.

Schrumm is only in politics for his own financial gain. He looks for ways to put a few bucks in his pocket either from the town, taxpayers, or builders.

Those are serious charges no one believes...not even you. Pointing out a false charge on this blog doth not make it gospel. It means the false charge has been repeated twice, nothing more.

Dave Schrumm is a tireless volunteer in this community...The Land Trust, his church the citezens of Cheshire through his years of effective elective service. The only handout from Dave Schrumm is "how can I help?" And he's no dope either. You don't makes friends with everybody when you have to say "too expensive", or "not so fast, we can do this a better way".

If you're going to level charges about kickbacks you better be prepared to come up with something believable. The only kickback he gets are from dopes like you!

I don't know where to begin with you. Your thoughts here are not only wrong in many instances but sladerous as well.

How much power did Schrumm have to stop the $10 right of way? Tim is on the council and he couldn't stop it. I won't make slanderous remarks like you, but look on the council and see if there is anyone that may benefit from allowing a developer to build those additional condos??
Perhaps you missed Tim's blog from May where he let Dave tell us a little about Richmond-Glen.
Don't say he didn't say anything!

Never said to make my home a "national landmark" when I die, but if you force all the seniors out of this town, we will have a huge problem in this town. Obviously tyou don't understand that we need balance. I am sure you think we should add the artificial turf to entice more families into this town as well.

To go and say the things you did about Schrumm in your last paragraph, perhaps you should look at the present council majority and ask if any of them are in it for their own financial gain.

BTW--We and the TC were told this pool would be self sufficient when we voted to build it---there is no way Schrumm would have continued to vote to subsidize it.

I suggest you read a little and learn how this town work.
Bashing Schrumm, a person who actually cares how much money this town is wasting, is not cutting it here.

"... but if you force all the seniors out of this town, we will have a huge problem in this town..."

Look around us. Forcing seniors out of this town may be due in part to their disgust at ever increasing taxes and clearly diminished services and quality of life. Those that can do flee ridiculous government. Today's seniors more often are mobile and can take their hard earned money where they chose.

Ever increasing local taxes will also force younger residents with children to be looking elsewhere for housing and employment too. Taxes are too high and only seem to go in one direction in this town.

The phantom north end mall and the real possibility of Pratt & Whitney fleeing this town should be a wake up call for all those wanting to maintain the present spend and tax policies of our current local town council majority.

Local store closings, foreclosures and bankruptcies are even happening in Cheshire now despite the rosy picture painted by some of our local real estate tycoons. We've all become bored looking at the same houses with for sale signs in front of them for many months or even years at this point.

Dave can count on my vote in November.

Whoever wrote the piece about the fire truck is ignorant of the facts or knowingly slandering Shrumm.
His brother does sell fire trucks....but NOT to the town of Cheshire since he knows they only buy from one vendor (at an inflated price!)
Shrumm has NEVER worked for his brother in the fire truck business. He did know enough about fire trucks however to expose the existing system truck purchasing system for what it is...a joke. It was just one of the many times he dug in to expose some of the dollars being wasted. If there was a time for a true fiscal watchdog its now. If you critics can think of any other Councilmen who put in more time to making Cheshire liveable AND affordable please name them.
