Strathmore Woods dam

There's a dam meeting on Wednesday night at town hall. Feel free to stop by.

As well, the PZC public hearing on the proposed ND is next Monday.

It's going to a public hearing. We'll probably vote on setting a public hearing at the May Council meeting, next week.

Only other point tonight was that Dave Schrumm seemed to want to take the dam down. But that could be an expensive proposition to simply investigate without any guarantees of permits being granted.

On the other side was Elizabeth Esty who was very clear that she wants to put this issue to bed.

My guess is that most Council members would support taking down the dam, but the uncertainty of the permitting process would give everyone pause.

I believe Fisk said he'll pay to "fix up" the dam. However, Schrumm pointed out that that would not cover future maintenance costs. I think that's the reason Schrumm wants to take it down...

Overall... there's lots of variables.

Where is our Town engineer? What is his professional opinion? Esty is a Lawyer. No engineers on the council. We always ask for the towns expert advice on everything else. Why is this different? Let's not wait until it fails..

well if Schrumm thinks maintaining the dam is expensive for a town of 30K residents, maybe he can explain to Marty Coburn (who is neither a lawyer or a structural engineer, although he stayed in a Holiday Inn Express last night) why a neighborhood of 88 homes might not want to get stuck with this white elephant

Coburn tried to tell us two years ago we should feel lucky to get the dam. What planet is he from?

Be nice to Marty. He has to make a very important decision on another Dam problem in the northend.
