Tim,

I like your updates on the various council committees.

The Budget Committee (Ecke, Esty, and White) has done a great job, keep-up the good work!

Budget committee has done well. However, on a side note it was mentioned that the town charter does not allow for a police commission or a fire commission. It was stated that since we have a town manager, this is not allowed. However, in review of the Town of Southington, how does it work in that town with the same setup?
I do not think you should combine the duties and add to the Public Safety Committee. My suggestion would be the same as other residents - make a Police/fire commission with people in town who have past experience as a police officer or fire fighter. They then could better inform the town and be apart of further issues. (One being the need for a new public safety complex in town for Police and Fire) This woudl allow for the current police station to become apart of the school for furture development.

No need for a police commission. It would be a waste of time and effort, dont't fix what works.

I would love to see the town not have a commission, but to say that things in town work is an overstatement. If you look at what the town has spent money on and how unsuccessful the projects have been (Cheshire High School, pool, etc.) you would say that you dont want the same to happen with furture projects and issues in town.

How would the police commission have prevented the pool mess?
