Ron Paul for President 5/14

Excerpted from Wikipedia: Ron Paul advocates the limited role of government, low taxes, free markets, and a return to monetary policies based on commodity-backed currency. He has earned the nickname "Dr. No" for voting against any bill he believes violates the Constitution. In the words of former Treasury Secretary William Simon, Paul is the "one exception to the Gang of 535" on Capitol Hill - members of United States Congress and their staffers. He has never voted to raise taxes or congressional pay. He has consistently voted against the USA PATRIOT Act, the Military Commissions Act of 2006, and the Iraq War. (wikipedia.com)

Check out Ron Paul, M.D. in the Republican primary debate on Tuesday night.

I imagine Ron would be against bending the p&z rules in order to cash in or gain an edge. My objectivist days are behind me (the politics of it at least), but what did Ayn Rand call it, the aristocracy of pull?

Whenever I travel down the northern half of 10, I'm usually heading somewhere, not looking to shop. That'll probably change once the development is in. It won't take long for the rest of the strip, outside of the proposed north-end developments, to cash in on the opportunity. And, they'll be benefiting without changing the regulations any further. So, it doesn't matter if the p&z changes apply on to that portion of the interchange zone. We'll still see a radically different rt 10 15 years from now.

What I'd like to know is who in the town government stands to benefit from turning the north-end into a shopping destination? I'm pretty sure Ron would hate this sort of rule bending. He'd probably want to throw the rules out altogether, but at least he wouldn't want a system in place where only the reg-changing in-crowd benefits.
