School redistricting
I noticed another article in the NHR recently about the BOE talk of redistricting. Can anyone give a status update?

There will be a lot of redistricting when all the housing is built in the northend.
You want to shop then your gonna pay.
The BoE meeting of 5-17 is on channel 16 at 8 pm and you can hear the board discuss the redistricting issue. From what I heard nothing (meaning no forced redistricting) is going to happen for the 07-08 year. Any redistricting that may occur would be voluntary.
You are all nuts, school redistricting because of the North End? How many people do you think will be moving in there? How many kids?
Redistricting has been a topic of discussion with the Boe for a while now...even before the talk of possible development in the northend. Highland School has too many students, Chapman has room for more, etc.
But ask yourself this - if the zone text change is made and the 400 acre northend is changed to include residential, then how many houses do you think could be built in the remaining 300 acres after the mall and apartments/condos go up? Obviously, redistricting won't solve the problem if homes are put on another 300 acres - might we need another school?
