State bonding

This link will take you to a fairly brief analysis of where the state allocates some bonded tax dollars. This $1.1billion spending bill includes such programs as the:

Small
Town
Economic
Assistance
Program

STEAP is a $20,000,000 program. The West Main streetscape project is $500,000 of that $20million.

How about a new acronym to explain the state going deeper into hock to build pretty sidewalks near an auto body shop

Politicians
Overspending on
Reckless
Kraziness

I don't know about your particular case, but it's generally called infastructure. A sidewalk is at least something. Look at all the national big biz cuts and back-door funding operations that amount to welfare for corporations.

That sidewalk may only be one step removed from a bridge-to-nowhere, but I'd hate to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

it is our money and if you don't want it run for office for state rep and change the system.

That autobody shop has been there a long time and has paid taxes for many years. Many businesses in that area are long time taxpayers and good community supporters. There is a great amount of activity in WEST CHESHIRE. You run into many friends at the pizza places (GREAT PIZZA), lumber yards, car wash, gas stations, bike shop, coffee shops, deli, hair salon, ice cream store, driving range, furniture store, cleaners/tailor, garages and convenience stores (I'm sure I missed a few). Mostly all the LOCAL owners call you by your name. It will be even better with this makeover. That area is my "LIFE-STYLE CENTER"
I miss the package stores (we once had 3). Sign of the times.

Anon 6:17. Yes it is OUR money. And I shouldn't have to subject my family to a huge pay cut and join those clowns in the state legislature to keep them from WASTING the money I work hard to earn on useless esthetic projects

I'm getting tired of the "run yourself" argument. It means we have reliquished democracy to 187 unaccountable lobbyist entralled jokers in Hartford

ok so you get to complain and complain and when these people get re elected you don't want to do anything about it. Sitting on the sidelines will get you no playing time

So you suggest taxpayers meekly agree to be gouged. Frankly to call this argument moronic would be offensive to the intellectually challenged

I like the STEAP grant program-we should ask for money for TURF and the pool and the west main project. There is nothing wrong with it and it is good for all of us!!!!!!!!!!!

Why don't some of you guy's run for state office and change the system. You write the same stuff over and over, put a plan together and RUN. Now is the time to plan, the election is only 17 months from now. GO FOR IT.
