Rte 42 update 5/29

I'm still looking for answers on the delays faced by the Rte 42 project. (Click on the two inset images to see the DOTs May 11 response to a December 21, 2006 inquiry.)

For me, questions 4 & 5 were the most important questions:

Questions 4 & 5 - What criteria are used by the State Department of Transportation to determine eligible projects? Once these projects are deemed to be "eligible," how are these projects prioritized?

Answers 4 & 5 - All proposed improvements to the State's transportation infrastructure (including roadways, bridges, mass transit, etc.) may be considered "eligible" projects. While there is no formal "prioritization" process, clearly improvement projects that address serious safety deficiencies (support by accident data) warrant the department's immediate attention.

That is a serious flaw in the DOT. Their department is so big, they should have criteria by which they formally prioritize their projects. The legislature should force the hand of the DOT and demand they begin using criteria to prioritize their projects.

Regardless, based on the DOT response I'm not surprised that the Rte 42 project continues to be delayed year after year (I think it's about ten years now). Perhaps the only way to make the Rte 42 project happen is to do what does not seem to have happened... have someone advocate for it.

Give it up-they are going to do it when they want to-and move on to other stuff-it is like you are still angry over the last election-you lost and Vickie won and you need to move on-the bitter thing will put you in league with Schrumm and Orsini and Ruocco

What is it with you "bitter" labelers? Show me your smile button when George Bush's name comes up.

Tim is concerned about a state road that is in the fourth district. His constituents suffer from the flooding impacts associated with its drainage problems and anyone using that road understands the problems with the sharp curve at King Road.

Tim is for better...not bitter. Of course you are advising Tim to move on which is what you "Move-on" folks are all about. Why bother trying to solve anything...just attach a label to Republicans.

Never Bitter...Tim Slocum

Thanks, Tims! This is an important issue in the fourth district.

The Republicans in Cheshire remind me of lemons and limes

Lemons and limes adds zest to foods, drinks and politics. Thanks. Back to Rt 42. I think the town should pursue this like they did the north-end problem.

They leave a bitter taste and it is very hard to get rid of. Most are turned off

Don't use them. It's that simple . You have a choice.

If Republicans are lemons and limes that leaves an opening for Democrats to be prunes and pickles. The other possibilities include nut bread, fruit cake, fruit salad, etc.
