Avoiding sewers

Here's a bill that may interest supporters of the northend development. It's called:

HB6768 AN ACT CONCERNING THE APPROVAL OF SUBSURFACE WASTEWATER DISPOSAL SYSTEMS.

One potential hangup for the northend could be sewers. However, HB6768 may help to avert those concerns. This bill is to get debated by the Environment Committee, Wednesday morning at 10:30am.

I think that the developer is considering a community septic system so they won't need to connect to our plant. That way this project could be built and the extra capacity can be used for other development. Great idea!!!

The Town Planner stated at the first P&Z meeting that he wanted public water and public sewers for the Weiner project. The developer winced at that requirement, as it will cost them far more to build the necessary sewer infrastructure to support this development than it would to build a septic system. It's the cost factor driving that "great idea".

Still a great idea, why do we worry about his cost, in America are people not free to make money? You must be a very liberal person.

The P&Z doesn't like the idea of a septic system. However safe it claims to be it will be an environmental disaster if that septic system fails. Who will pay for that cleanup? P&Z isn't worried about who makes money, their protecting Cheshire.

Only a developer could come up with something that bad. First, with 500,000 sq ft of stores and 160 apartments it will definitely screw up the ground water and there is the river close by. How does anyone know where the ground water is going to go and who knows what will be dumped into it.

Thirdly, if it breaks down, you'll have 160 families demanding the town fix it or hook them up the town sewer system. What if the W/S corporation for this development goes bankrupt and doesn't honor any of their responsibilities. Remember shopping centers can fail after some years.
