Bush-On-Steroids is back in the news

President Bush-On-Steroids -- a.k.a. Barack Obama -- is back in the news. Ignoring his previous claims that waterboarding of foreigners was torture and shouldn't occur, President Obama is up to his old tricks!

Back in May, CBS reported on President Obama's "kill list." And now Emptywheel at Firedoglake is reporting that President Obama has his DOJ working to ensure that the American citizen on his "kill list" has no legal protection if he returns to the USA.

I said it then and I say it now: Waterboarding of foreigners shouldn't occur. But the assassination of American citizens??

Where exactly does He draw the line??

This is one very good reason to hand Mr. Issa the gavel for the Oversight and Government Reform Committee. Clearly Nancy Pelosi isn't too concerned about the assassination of American citizens.

American citizen or not, this iman who openly calls for murder of American civilians is commiting treason (by definition in the Constitution). And in time of war, he's an appropriate military target without the usual protections of due process. No different than a summary trial and hanging of a traitor by the military. For once I agree with Obama.

Section 3. Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying War against them, or in adhering to their Enemies, giving them Aid and Comfort. No Person shall be convicted of Treason unless on the Testimony of two Witnesses to the same overt Act, or on Confession in open Court. The Congress shall have power to declare the Punishment of Treason, but no Attainder of Treason shall work Corruption of Blood, or Forfeiture except during the Life of the Person attainted.

I'm sure he's not a nice guy, but it's a slippery slope. And we must adhere to the Constitution... which I think is pretty clear.

I knew Obama was good for something. I wonder if someday we look at the Constitution and say "this needs to be adjusted a little bit....our current world requires some different tactics".....and don't say the terrorists will win if we change our ways...they will win if we don't change our ways....

I agree with the first poster. During times of war, non-combatant enemy leaders have always been appropriate military targets, and not protected by the constitution. Thank God the ACLU wasn't around to whine about Nazi's right when the US targeted some German leaders during WWII.
