Sen. Tom Coburn endorses...

No. He didn't endorse my guy... physician-politician, Ron Paul.

But Sen. Tom Coburn did endorse McCain. And though DC-based political endorsements rarely mean anything to me... along with Reps. Flake and Shadegg, Sen. Coburn is one of the few people who I feel really is working to stop the spending binge in Washington. After all, as a freshman GOP Senator... Coburn was the only Senator willing to take Sen. Ted "porkmeister" Stevens and his $250 million dollar bridge to nowhere to the floor of the Senate and... call him out on it... publicly.

Sure, Coburn didn't make many friends that day in Washington. But I think he made friends all across the country... everywhere except inside the beltway.

Anyway, since Coburn is making a concerted effort at fighting Washington's wasteful, deficit spending... his endorsement actually does mean something to me.

In Romney's own home state of Massachusetts, a poll this week shows John McCain clobbering Romney in the Republican primary 47% to 20%. Mass. Republicans know Romney best as Mr. Tell-them-what-they-want-to-hear (ie: Mr. Flip-Flop).

McCain carried New Hampshire, and I'll bet he carries Connecticut too. I'd love to see Tom Coburn on McCain's short list for VP.

Coburn is staunchly pro-life and he supports the Iraq War. But a few mos ago I saw him on CSpan.

He said... "what's the #1 issue facing America? Is it abortion? No. Is it the war? No... is it this or that? No... it's the spending. We've got to control the spending."

ok... that's a paraphrase, but my point is simple... we need to balance the budget. This deficit spending isn't good.

I think McCain carried CT in 2000... though he also carried MI that year.

Brokered convention... here we come!

Here's an msn discussion about how Romney and Huckabee are resorting to dirty tricks.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21134540/vp/22672959#22698779

One of Romney's staff sent out a mailing claiming that McCain was a Viet-Cong sympathizer while he was a POW for 6 years. Huckabee is conducting "push polling" against his opponents.

Not surprisingly, John McCain is the only one of the three not lowering himself into the gutter of dirty tricks.

This is frightening!!!

Mike Huckabee has called for "amending the Constitution so it meets God's standards," so it conforms to his interpretation of the Bible.

Holy cow! It's the christian Taliban!

Well, I'm one church-going conservative Republican who objects. Yes, America was founded on broad Judeo-Christian principles, but who is he to say that his particular interpretations of the Bible should be imposed on others?

Well, the Democrats have their Al Sharptons. We have our Mike Huckabees.
