Turf

With all the discussion about "turf," I thought it might be worthwhile to define "turf." I found four types of "turf" on wikipedia:

1) Turf - AstroTurf, or any variety of artificial turf made to resemble grass

2) AstroTurf - AstroTurf is a brand of artificial turf. Though the term is a registered trademark, it is sometimes used as a generic description of any kind of artificial turf. The original AstroTurf was a short pile synthetic turf, known today as a "classic system". Though it still the preferred surface for field hockey, classic systems are being replaced in many stadiums with newer generation artificial turfs whose materials have properties much closer to natural grass

3) Artificial turf - Artificial turf, or synthetic turf, is a grass-like man-made surface manufactured from synthetic materials. It is most often used in arenas for sports that were originally or are normally played on grass, however, it is now being used on residential lawns and commercial applications, as well.

4) Field turf - a Montreal-based company that installs artificial grass playing surfaces identified by the FieldTurf trademark. Artificial grass is designed to simulate natural grass and is often used where a grass-like field is required, but where natural grass is not feasible.

I think someone mentioned on one of the posts that the proposed turf is "field turf."

Does Cheshire really need this?

NO

Yes I will support it as it is a great surface and will save the town money/

How will it save money? Do you happen to have any numbers on that? Using assumptions is necessary I'm sure. But I'd still like to see something.

Cheshire wastes so much money on education, why not do this too. I am sure that Hall and Ecke are all for it. This is why the Rep. have to win the next election. Until the town is run by the right people we will be wasting money on this crap. Smartborards?? Come on a joke. And the Seniors will have to pay of it.

Compare the cost of everyday and year of a grass field and a field turf field and the numbers work out for the field turf.

House Speaker Jim Amann said of outgoing minority leader Bob Ward, "he always kept his word."

The same applies to Hall & Ecke. They always listen to my concerns (even if they disagree) and they always keep their word.

injuries are less on field turf than astro turf and are actually less than grass. Useage is better for field turf.

why do players prefer grass then?
