Farm grants announced
$1,000,000 in farm grants have been announced. They're "designed to promote agriculture and expand Connecticut’s agricultural job base" (NHR, by Steve Higgins).
Among other programs, the grants will support agricultural education, regulatory efforts, signage and conduct a feasibility study of farms and open space.
I'm sure such grants won't end anytime soon. However, I still think that something like this could be linked to energy and reducing our dependence on Mideast oil thru the increased use of alternative fuels, such as biodiesel.

Actually, you could make the argument that growing food in CT would reduce fuel use... in transporting the food.
whats worse..paying extra money for fuel or basically funding CT farms as they cant support themselves??? Even the farm markets are subsidized
I just want to reduce our consumption of foreign oil and am willing to consider most anything.
