Politically-speaking

Cheshire's own (said tongue in cheek) Congressman Chris Murphy took his oath of office (MRJ, by Adam Wittenberg) yesterday. What I found interesting in the article was the Cheshire residents who were in attendance. Kate Altobello said "I'll be at his presidential inauguration if I live long enough." Hmmm... President Murphy? I'm not sure about that. Nonetheless, Cheshire may someday call itself home to a US President. In fact, that possible future President was also in attendance.

Whether or not you like her politics, she could go far in this game. I wouldn't be surprised to see Elizabeth Esty squaring off in a gubernatorial primary with Chris Murphy in either '10 or '14.

Tim, praising lefty Democrats is not exactly providing a reason to elect Republicans to local office.

I can read the Courant for all the uncuous liberalism, thank you

I thunk Tim's Murphy comments were tongue in cheek. As for Murphy....the onyl tiem I ever saw this guy in Cheshire was right after he announced he was running for the seat. Than he miraculously appear in Church one sunday morning....never saw him again......what a phony...

I woulkd like defend Tim;s comments about young Ms. Esty, You may disagree with her or her mothers politics, but she certainly is a bright, ambitious young woman who cares about her community. Isn't that what manners. Its supposed to be about the community right?

Young Ms Esty?? or the Esty on the TC...I assume you mean the councilwoman Esty...as for her going further in politics, well, I didn't think she'd get elected to the TC especially after she made remarks about the seniors who should move out of town if they can't afford the taxes...that one I'll never forget and I don't think the seniors will either especially since her campaign promise for much larger credits never came to fruition.

I was speaking of Councilwoman Estys daughter. She seems to be a very intelligent, ambitious young lady. Wether you agree with her poltical leanings is really irrelevant, as its her enthusiasm and desire to be part of the process and work for change that are to be admired.

Tim mentioned Councilwoman Elizabeth Esty. I do not know her daughter's name.

ADB... I agree 100% about Elizabeth's daughter.

Glad that was clarified that Tim was not talking about Esty's daughter. How she got in the mix, I don't know.
Political leanings are important. I'm intelligent, enthusiastic, wanting to see progress and change for the good of the community. But if you don't agree with my political way of thinking, then you wouldn't agree or support me.

I misread Tim's orginal post and thought he was referring to Ms. Esty's daughter. In any event my commenst about the young lady stand. She exemplifies what it means to be involved in the community.

The only time anyone ever saw Chris Murphy in town was when he appeared at the local senior citizen center looking for a photo op from whatever media outlet he could get there. You never saw him or heard from him otherwise.I'm not really sure he knows where Cheshire is!
