Rep. Al Adinolfi's letter
Did anyone happen to notice the letter from Uncle Al in today's Herald? I certainly appreciated it. He said that he'll be calling hearings in Cheshire on the I-84 debacle. That's great news.
After all, Democratic state Senator Gary LeBeau's recently said that the MaGuire Group was the "nexus" of the debacle. So with these hearings, maybe people in Cheshire will be able to get an answer to the obvious followup question: In light of the fact that he wasn't (NICET) qualified, how did William Fritz get the job as Chief Inspector?

"How did he qualify?"
The same way Ned Bowman qualified for the Chairmanship of Connecticut Innovations, the state's technology investment arm.
Politics. Whether it is through a relatives or contributions people get special treatment.
Who recommended Ned for the job?hw
No, you can't compare Ned Bowman to the William Fritz/ I-84 situation.
Ned Bowman is actually qualified to hold his position. See Gov. Rell's announcement at
http://www.ct.gov/governorrell/cwp/view.asp?Q=390986&A=2791
William Fritz was neither qualified nor licensed to hold the highly technical position of Chief Inspector. The results of the I-84 fiasco and the Attorney General's investigation speak for themselves.
The previous poster is just trying to deflect responsibility from William Fritz in a transparently partisan way.
Yo Tim...why do you thank Mary Fritz one day and then blast her son the next ????
7:48 I don't see how the two issues are related. So I'm not really sure how to answer your question. But feel free to give me a call (439-4394) or email me. That may make it easier for me to understand the question.
Anon 1:19 Mr Green's article in The hartford Courant about this appoinment had a different view.
"Ned Bowman is actually qualified"
Huh? He owns an oil delivery service. That's not breaking technology. It's pick up the oil, get a call for oil and then deliver it.
As per bio-diesel, buying equipment wtih a state grant isn't high tech either.
The William Fritz appointment as Chief Inspector of the I-84 project was a threat to public safety and criminally borderline. No comparrison to Ned Bowman's appointment.
What is this constant, and pompous criticism of the Bowman family?
They employ hundreds of people in Cheshire, donate thousands of dollars to charitable groups, and volunteer their time to community organizations. These are just a few of the many good things they do in the community.
Personally, I would prefer more Bowmans in the town, and fewer petty and small-minded people that constantly criticize them on this blog.
I can't speak for anyone making attacks here, and chances are that I wouldn't want to, but I bet they're expressing a healthy american distrust for any power structure, perceived or actual.
I think such criticism will exist whenever you have wealthy well-connected families that _also_ get heavily involved in politics. They could be saints, but people will always be on the lookout for conflicts of interests. So long as it's nothing personal, that's the way it should be.
Average joes are kept in line by lots of professionals (courts, cops). Elected representatives are ultimately policed by total amateurs (we the people), and amateurs can get a bit unruly. Of course, I think they're most effective when they keep it civil.

How is he qualified?
Is it a crime to question a persons qualifications? Where is the science and technology expertise?
See Gov. Rell's announcement of Bowman's appointment at
http://www.ct.gov/governorrell/cwp/view.asp?Q=390986&A=2791
And again,
The William Fritz appointment as Chief Inspector of the I-84 project was a threat to public safety and criminally borderline. This can not compare to Ned Bowman's appointment.
How is he qualified?
Political contribution?
