Council agenda 8/30

Here's the agenda for Thursday's special Council meeting:Included here is more discussion on the Strathmore dam.

And of interest to me is a grant to buy a hybrid car... perhaps a Civic Hybrid! Well, I've only got good things to say about mine. Although the grant name "clean fuel" strikes me as odd... hybrids (Prius & Civic) use nothing but gasoline and electric. There's no "clean fuel" involved. Anyway... that's the agenda for Thursday's meeting.

what is likely to happen with the dam?

Who are they buying the car for? What's the actual price of the car? $6,200 won't cover much of the actual cost, I wouldn't think.

I'm not sure about the dam.

I'm not sure what dept. will get use of the car. But as for the costs... last year the Civic Hybrid and Prius each ran around $23,000 or so. (keep in mind, the town wouldn't pay state sales tax.)

As for the town's fleet of vehicles, in total... I think it's around 170 vehicles. That includes the DPW dumptrucks, police cruisers, firetrucks (I think) and every other vehicle.

The general idea is to replace vehicles every 7-10 years or 100,000+ miles... police cruisers may be replaced more often for safety purposes and because they are often idling... which is some "wear n tear" on the cars, although there's no increase in mileage.

If the public does not get access then the public should not pay one cent.

For the Church drive and the church green the public has access.

170 vehicles?

How did we get to this number? Can the public get a list of who uses each?

Be aware boyz, what is the plan for the Ten Mile Lowlands Management Plan. If you don't pay attention the approval for the North End Mall may be base don this one little item. Who developed the plan, Inlands/Wetlands, when before or after the P&Z Zone text change.

This is an attempt to slip something important by the public...trust me.

I agree with 4:21. I'd like to see a list of the 170 vehicles and who is driving them.

Also agree with 8:32. Tim, what do you know about the Ten Mile Lowlands Mgmt. Plan? Can you explain more about it?

Why should this surprise anyone? P&Z under Voelker is just another developer resource. Has it all been approved yet? Why do we pay the salaries of the P&Z?

The Good Old Boys own this town and run it to their benefit.

It was good that Diane Visconti was for the open space, but it would have been much better had she thought about it before voting for the Bowman, Calcagni and W/S proposal to pave over a beautiful river property.

That vote was 6-3 . There were two more votes that were needed. Hello TW and EE.

I thought the Hybrid cars were tax free???

Neither the prius nor civic hybrid have the CT sales tax imposed.
