The tragic incident in Minneapolis underscores the need to invest in infrastructure on all levels. Roads, bridges, culverts etc. must be maintained.
It is the responsibility of government to look closely at the cost vs value in all these expenditures.
There is plenty of opportunity to pad these projects with unnecessary expense.
We have a dam here in Cheshire that must be dealt with.
I hope we don't bicker over this one until we have a disaster of our own.
I realize that there are no easy answers but we need to come up with answers none the less, and not on the backs of the homeowners in that area,

$1,000,000 for road improvements.

I hope absolutely none of this, not one cent, is for Dickerman Rd in to pay for road improvements tmprovements that W/S, Bowman and Calcagni, DiNatali and anyone else who is going to profit from the Northend development. And the same is true of the sidewalk funds.

The dam is the responsibility of the realtor. He has to work out a solution with the homeowners.

Why does the town have to bail out every builder?

If the town were to put any money into this, then the general public should be provided with easy access so that they can enjoy the benefit of their taxes. If the homeowners can't get the builder to fix things and they are not willing to let the public have access, then they should fix things themselves.

It's the American way, it's private property, you own it, you fix it.

No one is arguing about who should be paying for repairs to the dam. Mr. Fiske, the owner of record should and must and he has said as much.

In the event the town agrees to take the dam and the impounded pond it would have the duty to maintain it from there on much the way it has the job of maintaining roads and other town infrastructure.

Ninety homeowners in the Strathmore neighborhood could not be expected to resolve a catastrophic calapse of a dam but they could, like the current owner has, essentially let that occur by benign neglect. Is this a position we should let our community be put in? Downstream properties extend beyond the Strathmore community.

Draining the pond is a possibility but there is a lengthy legal process and impact analysis that must takes place to determine this option.

I think this is one of those rare instances where the town should take this portion. The town has to bear some responsibilty for perpetuating this problem in the first place when PZC crafted a fuzzy decision long ago and staff failed to follow up with any enforcement actions concerning the establishment of a homeowners association. The remaining 2 open space areas in the development should be the responsibilty of the Strathmore neighbors along with the sidewalks that front that space.

I would like to explore the possibility turning this into a positive situation for the residents of the Strathmore neighborhood and the town. This are used to be a great fishing area when I was a kid. There were several ponds that we camped next to and fished for sunnies, bullheads and even bass. This was one of the many great memories I have of growing up in Cheshire.

Lou,

Are you running for some office in November?

The remaining 2 open space areas in the development.

If the town is going to pay anything, the property should be deeded to the town and and publick access be given to all the dam area and the open space to insure that it is managed proberly and to insure the taxpayers get a return for their taxes.

The town should never be in a position to maintain private property where the public is excluded. There are other dams in Cheshire. Should the town be responsible for all the other dams.

Why did the town ever get involved with the Northend culvert? Those people had plenty of money and took advantage of the taxpayers.

I have a number of things that have to be fixed on my property, who in the town should I call?
