HPV vaccine
There's a movement afoot, including in CT, to require schoolgirls to receive the new HPV vaccine, gardisil. As this article explains, HPV can be an ugly disease. I'm not an expert, but I'm not sure that mandating this new vaccine is the right thing to do.
Some side effects could take years to discover.

Mandating a vaccine is good in some cases, but this is not one of them. Another step towards govt control of everything.
More of the nanny state substituting its judgment for that of citizens and parents. Public health authority was originally given to stem the spread of communicable diseases. Now it extends itself to areas of personal health that ought to be the individual's choice (smoking, hpv vaccine, etc). It’s funny how for liberals "choice" means I can commit homicide by aborting my child, but I can’t choose whether my daughter receives this vaccine.
