Richardson withdraws his name from Commerce

Gov. Bill Richardson has withdrawn his name from consideration for Commerce Secretary due to a grand jury investigation.

From the Courant's Mike Dorning:

The probe is part of a national investigation of "pay-to-play" practices in the municipal bond market, in which financial companies make political donations to office-holders in order to be considered for government business.

I wonder if this "pay-to-play" stuff rears its ugly head in CT. IMO, this is the benefit of Cheshire's form of government - no political donations to the administration. So corruption is less likely.
