Pelosi: no earmarks in stimulus porkage
The APs Philip Elliott reports on America's newest trillion dollar bailout. Here he captures the thoughts of Speaker Pelosi:
"I think we should do the package that is necessary to turn our economy around," Pelosi said on CNN's "Late Edition." She also pledged that the House version would not contain any earmarks.
What I'm wondering though - why did Cheshire send this list to Governor Rell... to be transmitted to Washington... if we're not going to have any earmarks? I mean, if the projects in Cheshire's wish list are included... aren't those earmarks by definition?
Maybe she meant to say there'd be no "pork" in the stimulus porkage? But being Washington, they don't even bother distinguishing between pork and earmarks because it's all the same thing?
