Dill to return to old post?

If you read this piece by the NHRs Luther Turmelle on the possible return of Sheldon Dill to his old Council seat representing Cheshire's 1st district, you'll probably agree that it seems somewhat likely. After all:

Sheldon Dill, who is president of the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, has the backing of Democratic Town Committee Chairman Ernie DiPietro.

They're gonna regret that move.

Where is Dill is the issues of fiscal responsibility?

If DoPietro wants him, I can't see that anything will change for the better. Same block voting with no thought for the taxpayers.

Same support for the Good Ol Boys.

Check and see what a strong proponent for the North End Development he is and you will know whose back pocket he is in.

I think at this point the North End is as dead as Bear Stearns.

Where is Dill on the turf and on reval?

If Sheldon hasn't sold out his integrity, he'll vote for a council resolution to overturn the revaluation and order a new one.

He's a turncoat & cannot be trusted. When he was a Republican on the TC when they had a majority, he caved in and voted for the BOE budget with the Dems.

He was a strong proponent of the North End mall that resulted in so many bad changes to zoning and many of these changes weakened zoning in not only the NE, but the entire town. We don't need people who would weaken our zoning further.

There would certainly be a conflict of interest with his current position as president of the Cheshire Chamber of Commerce. We don't need more pro-development people.

You mean he voted the way he felt was in the best intrest of the town, as opposed to party lines---- how dare he!

If appointed, Sheldon would be a real asset to the Town.

Let's hope this asset is not for sale, unlike many elected officials

I would love to see the "tree" that connects all those on the town council with those who have vested interests in the ND as well as other important zoning rulings.
It seems that those who grew up in this town and continue to make their living in this town have connections that, in most towns, would cause them to recuse themselves from certain votes, but not in this town.
It is time to start breaking some of those branches off.

The Chamber's public support of the the mall did not represent the wishes of its membership. That should tell you something about how Dill will represent his constituents.

The Northend have few winners, W/S and the owners , Doug Calcagni, Paul Bowman and Frank DiNatali. The losers would be existing businesses, the State and local taxpayers and the environment.

It is beleived that MAcy's will not renew their lease at MSquare. Brass City Mall ownership is approaching bankruptcy. Hundreds of stores are expected to close natioanlly after 1/1/09. The North End is dead from a retail point of view...
