Geese-be-gone terriers arrive

The WRA reports on Mixville's newest "regulars":

At 28 pounds, a black Kerry blue terrier named Kelly is a real bully. The mere site of her and her owner's orange kayak makes the geese run for safety.

Kelly and Molly, another Kerry blue terrier, are the animal half of a team called No Geese Today. Their human partner is Alan Kendrix of North Haven. Town officials hope Kendrix and his dogs will chase away the geese, whose endless supply of droppings have made the park unappealing to humans.

Why use dogs for natural geese control when we could spray the pond and the park with pesticides?

As with turf, there must be at least one town councilman who has a vested interest in selling pesticides to the town.

Who the hell is raising such a fuss about the droppings? The more birds the better. I am glad they are doing well.

I agree with the letter Mrs. Pinkham wrote in the CH about 2 weeeks ago. They should make it into the dog park!

Kill 2 birds with 1 dog!

I love birds too, but there is such a thing as health concerns. Do you want your kids swimming and stepping in all that goose crap?

I think the worst thing I ever stepped on was dog %$(*. So they want Dog $%*& instead of goose droppings.

What about all the robins and other birds? Let's kill everything.

A lot of the people oomplaining about a few geese never ever went to the park, except I know one individual that takes his two dogs there.

Perhaps the dogs should be brought to the Town Hall, for "excrement control" at Town Council meetings ...

Wow! A lot of comments about this sh***y issue. I typed "getting rid of geese" into my search engine and got a response about a coyote decoy. The article reviewed moving the decoys occasionally with exceptional results. These are cheap and do not poop themselves; have we tried them? Maybe we can use such a decoy at the TC meetings to satisfy the last commenter, although it might be nicer to see a terrier or maybe a pit bull rip into some of the phonies there. Whoops! Did I say that out loud?

I think we should shoot the geese and give them to the homeless people.
That will keep the conservatives and libs both happy.
