CTs forms of gov't

In a previous post, I pointed out that someone asked the Council if it's time for a Charter revision. Depending on where people want to go with a Charter revision, I think it may very well be time for one. But one thing I'm not particularly interested in seeing happen would be for us to change our form of government.

What do I mean by that?

Well, as detailed in this map (by Max Sklar... and click thru... it's worth a peek.) that I linked from CT Local Politics, you can see that CT seems to have four typical forms of gov't:

Town Meeting
Representative Town Meeting
Council / Manager
Mayor / Council

Cheshire has a Council / Manager form of government. Is it perfect? No. But all things considered, I think it works well for us and I'd prefer to keep it.

It is time for a charter revision. First, enginnering contracts should go out to bid. That will at minimum place pressure on Milone & McBroom to provide fair pricing. It would also require a fair process in getting bids.

Secondly, the Town should place all of their contracts on the GSA web site for the State of Colorado. This web site allows all qualified bidders to bid on Town business. A much larger audience of qualified bidders than we now have.

The Town has outgrown the capability of the type of government we have. We either need to have elected officials that do not have ties to in Town businesses or the education department to hold office , or we need to change to a mayoral form of government. If we change we would at least know whwere the corruption is.

Look at the Town Council; Hall has who knows how many political, economic and personal contacts and people he has to satisfy, Ecke, has a football coack and police officer, why would he be against holding the line on educatrion spending. White makes deals with anyone who listens, either party just to get what he wants. Did not work on the past election. Esty is a lawyer, not allowed to practice in CT but a lawyer just the same. Her concerns lie with the Library, Friends of Boulder Kboll Farm. Diane Visconti, plain has no clue, Matt Alteri is a teacher with loyalty to the education lobby and baseball. After a public questioning he at least said there may be a conflict of interest on the ball fields at Jarvis Street. The worst part is Matt Hall publically supported Matt Alteri's statement of mentiuoning his potential conflict of interest; when in fact and upon review of the tapes, no mention of conflict was ever mentioned.

Matt Hall appoints a Senior Tax relief Study group that reaks of persoal interest. Wayne Winters could be his personal attorney, Mr. Pelliter is said to be his peronal CPA, the others have past personal, business dealings with him. When lloking at that group it is clear he is trying to push the senior tax relief study group to a predetermined conclusion of increasing the tax relief from 357,000 to 500,000. How they do it is not the issue.

Orsini does not care, he goes with the vote that he thinks wil get the most votes.

White is a democrat in disguise.

Schrumn votes only to save money whether it is right or not.

Rocco is trying to do a good job, but will eventually be run over or subdued by the political machine.

ouch... you really hit all of us. lol. Although, you seem ok with Tom R.

Curious though about this comment:

"Did not work on the past election."

Is that about me? If so, could you be more specific? Which election? '05 or '06? And what more could/should I have done?

To "Anonymous" who posted "it is time for a charter revision."

If you are going to personally attack members of the town council by name, at least have the courage to use your name.

Easy to name call and hide your identity. Maybe you are angry because you ran for a town elected office and lost.

Isn't that the right thing to do Bill?
