Home-based swimming lessons

The home-based swimming lessons will be coming before the PZC.

There are millions of kids swimming in backyard pools without supervision. This should be considerably safer.

There are plenty of residential homes with lots of come and go traffic in Cheshire. Let them park.

I think the structure is the problem

We allow a coffee shop on every corner with no regard for traffic or safety and we are going to break these peoples stones over trying to teach 1 kid at a time how to swim? Only a fool would vote against this. The smartest thing they could have done was to avoid the town and offer the lessons anyway like everyone else would.

A home based business in a residential zoned neighborhood? This could open the doors for me to build my dream speed shop out of my house. I'll try to keep the traffic down and the noise to a minimum, until I run those Chevy big blocks without exhaust manifolds on my new dyno!! My neighbors won't mind...I'll let them use my pool for free, even supply the beach towels. I'll call my new business Pandora's Box...

First, it doesn't say she is teaching "1 person" at a time. It just says "private lessons".
Although it sounds perfectly innocent, MJR has a good and valid point that should not be dismissed (especially with vulgarities).
We can be opening a whole can of worms by allowing this. I am not sure how the town looks at other home based businesses, but we should be careful here.
What if she decides she wants to give 4 kids a private lesson every hour? 4 cars an hour driving and parking in a residential neighborhood where kids play is not safe.

Try opening a newpaper once in a while before opening your mouth. The applicant stated, and was confirmed by witnesses that she will only teach 1 child at a time, with no exceptions. Acording to the Cheshire Herald, she is a former YMCA swim instructor who would never insruct more than 1 person at a time. One former client stated that she would not instruct siblings at the same time. If she wanted to have more than 1 student, I would disagree with her but with her desire to be 1 on 1, I like it. The increase in traffic would be less than that of someone holding a cubscout meeting in their home.

(I dont have the article infront of me so I do not recall "her" name.)

Zoning laws are put in place for a reason. They are there to protect the citizens and provide an orderly expansion of this Town. Let the P&Z and the appeals board decide. Hope that they follow what is there and arrive at a fair decision.
