It's the economy, stupid!

By Tuesday (March 10) the Council will have the TMs proposed budget. Coupling that reality with a beautiful day, I decided to start knocking on doors to hear thoughts on this year's budget.

The general sentiment I heard fell into two categories:

1) concern about the economy
2) worry about the economy

The people with whom I spoke were generally talking about their ability to pay their bills... along with that impact on their extended families.

My thought is without the final numbers on upcoming contracts, the budget will not be complete and a waste of time.

I only wish the rest of the TC cared about their constituents the way Tim does.
It's nice to hear an elected official who will actually ask the people he represents what they think about the town.
Perhaps you should suggest that to the others.

They just feel that if someone really cares, they will come to a meeting. Many of us have reasons why we aren't available to attend, so it is nice to hear at least one reaching out.

3 days before the manager submits his budget? If it was raining, would you have ever talked to anyone about it?

So Mr. DeVylder, how many of the other TC members even did that?
Give Tim credit.
He also hears from many of his constituents via this blog.
I do not hear from my TC member until it is election time. Then when he asks if we have any issues he doesn't want to hear them.
Tim is one of the best TC members we have.
Can you tell me any other members who go and speak to their constiuents when it isn't during an election?

I don't think the TC & most of the State/Fed politicians really understand that the electorate really doesn't beleive that THEY understand how horrible this economy has become....you have law firms getting rid of lawyers....who of thunk anyone would have predicted that??

Mr. DeVylder has an obvious grudge with Tim. Fact is no one on thje TC spends any time addressing the public...aside from Tim. He works a fulltime job and still finds time to knock on doors, run this blog and do the business of the town. Who else is putting in the effort he is?

Cheshire is a joke simpy because the Superintendent continues to play his games, the TC led by Matt Hall doesnt give a crap about the townspeople and because foolish residents in this town dotn give crap.
