Financial software budget

The NHR (by Luther Turmelle) continues to report on the proposal for new financial software in Town Hall:

The Town Council will take two weeks to evaluate a request by the community’s finance director to appropriate $153,500 to replace a financial software system that didn’t function properly after it was purchased last year....

“It’s a lot of money, and I didn’t get the feeling that everybody in the room was comfortable with it,” Democrat Michael Ecke, the council’s vice chairman, said Wednesday, explaining the decision to postpone the vote on the additional appropriation.

The Budget Chairman, Mike Ecke, is right.

There are a lot of people in town saying it's a lot of money.

And as I said at the last meeting... someone needs to sell this $153k to the public. Because if the public aren't sold, I doubt I'll be sold.

Who is going to be held acountable for this screw up? Is it Patti Lynn Ryan? According to the article she is stating that "officials" had to scrap the software? Who are they?
Fiscal responsibility!!
In the "real world" heads would roll if something like this happened, but not in our town. They just want us to open the wallet again.
Has anyone checked to see if the new program they are looking at will work the way they expect? What id that doesn't.
I sure hope the TM or the TC question Ms. Ryan as to who is responsible.

More facts are needed before one can place blame. Did the company not deliver the system that was promised?.

any chance that the tech guy over there that can't figure out how to get the minutes posted with a history is the same guy that failed to evaluate the software properly (hint: I know he is)?

This situation is indicative of yet more mismanagement,
incompetence, and abuse of the public trust.
As our taxes continue to increase, there is more wasteful spending. Someone should be fired. Is this what the dems mean by open govt? Open our wallets?

No blame was placed, but don't you think we should figure out what went wrong before we waste another $153,000?
How else do you find the answers if you don't question the person most invloved?

Think we should ask Esty & Hall for an investigation.

If the traffic cones cost us an additional $153,000 and we had just bought them a year ago then we should investigate that too.
