Bus route proposal

The MRJ (by Stacy Graham-Hunt) is reporting a proposed new bus route in town. "The proposal is for a Meriden Transit District vehicle to travel from the Westfield Meriden mall to the Cheshire Public Library to the Southington Green, and then back to the Westfield Meriden mall." And what sounds particularly important to me is what "the new bus route will do for seniors." It will "get them to MidState Medical Center, said Doreen Pulisciano, director of the town's senior and transportation services."

Also worthy of mention... it seems the Cheshire/Southington route would go directly past the ND.

Where is one going to park at the Library? They better look at another place maybe Stop & Shop?

The idea is when you take the bus you don't have a car to begin with. if you had a car you would drive to go where you want. This idea is to bring people to Cheshire that live in other towns that do not have cars.

If one lives in Southington and is able to walk to the green to get the bus to go to the Cheshire library???? I'm missing something here.

Maybe I'm missing something, but it seems like this is one very long trip and with the traffic congestion on rt 10 from town hall to the Southington green, it could make for a very eratic schedule and the trip could take a very long time. Also, your not going to find the ridership between these points as they are not densely populated urban areas.

Face it, you have to offer regular on time public transportation within each town to collect people from outlying areas and feed them into central points for connections between towns. As a previous posted pointed out, that if you need a car to get to the pickup point, then you will just drive to where they want to go.
