Murphy on CSpan again

Hmmm... interesting. Congressman Chris Murphy is on CSpan for the second day in a row... both nights are budget discussions. I wonder why he's getting so involved in primetime TV? Regardless, he's talking about a balanced budget and that's a good thing. The unfortunate thing is that in order to balance the budget and fund the long-term liabilities... I find it hard to believe that anyone in Washington would be willing to actually discuss it publicly... let alone vote that way.

I'm enjoying watching it... he's certainly having fun explaining his concerns... he keeps slamming Beltway Republicans for being fiscally irresponsible... and, well... it's hard to argue with him. Though now that he's a member of Congress, he (and his party) should to step up to the plate and acknowledge that any new spending plans need to put on hold if they really intend to balance the budget and address entitlements... even if they let the Bush Tax Cut expire.

Tim....

Chris Murphy likes to talk about fiscal responsibility, but needs to put his money where his mouth is.

Yesterday, Murphy voted in lock-step with his Democrat leaders to block a bill that would create a Joint Select Committee on Earmark Reform to review and report on how to fix Washington’s mess of an earmark process (H.Con.Res.263).

Murphy also rejected a Republican proposal to impose an immediate earmark moratorium on the consideration of all earmarks until members of both parties come together to fix the earmarking process once and for all (House Roll Call 32).

Just before Congress adjourned in December, the Democrats were successful in air-dropping 54 secret earmarks, totaling nearly half a billion dollars in additional spending, into three appropriations bills. These earmarks were never subject to the scrutiny of a public hearing, and were forced to be voted on the same day they were introduced.

Lets get Murphy to step up to the plate!!

Too much taking shots at the guy or party. Congress now has a lower rating than GW Bush. Bush id at an all time low of 33%, Congress is at 22%. Wake up and work together and stop the childish nonsense. This also applies for our elected and appointed officials.
