Legislators visit Boston & Quebec
"Expect the Capitol to be largely empty starting on Monday, August 6 as 68 legislators and staffers will be in Boston at the National Conference of State Legislatures' annual meeting. When that conference is over, 41 legislators and staff will be headed out to the Council of State Governments' conference at the Hilton Hotel in Quebec City." (Courant, Capital Watch Blog)
The state is estimating the cost at $165,660 for the two days.
But rest assured, your tax dollars are not being spent frivolously:
"House Speaker James Amann says these are not junkets, and the legislators and staff will return with a boatload of information on how to solve issues from taxes to education."

Obviously money is better spent sending politicians to Canada than convicts to Virginia
So whenever there is a trade show or some sort of private meeting that is good but not for any one else
it's politicians partying out of town on our dime
The cost seemed a bit high until I put it in perspective. I'm also paid by the state, and each year my department attends a job-relevant national conference. Last year my costs, for 3 days in Florida, worked out to about $2,300.
glad I paid for your FL vacation
Maybe they should go to Calgary,Alberta. Average age is 35 and the population has more than doubled in 30 years(400,000 to 1 million)."IT'S CLEAN AND THE PEOPLE ARE FRIENDLY" Hartford Courant. They must be doing something right. Go and bring back some ideas.
"glad I paid for your FL vacation"
I stayed an extra day to play tourist, but the rest of the trip was definitely not a vacation. Either way, I'm one of the best bargains on the payroll.

well, CSH, hope your carbon footprint jetting off to FL was worth it. I'm sure you'll be telling the rest of us to conserve.
(FYI, I drive a Corolla and have never been to a conference further away than Cromwell)
5:55:00, have I ever even brought up conservation on this blog?
What a waste all of it!!!
