Customs
With the flurry of letters in today's Herald, Shenanigate seems unfinished. But rather than comment on the letters (which speak for themselves), I have a different point to make.
People keep raising concerns about the customary nature of the Town Clerk's office... and how the controls are insufficient. But here's my concern... for all the questions about the Town Clerk over the customary nature in which her office maintains "The List," I didn't here a peep from anyone on the Council when I mentioned that the only reason anyone relied on the list was because... it had become a custom. A custom of the Council... not of the Town Clerk.
So... to recap... if we (the Council) are going to get upset with the Town Clerk about the office's customs, then shouldn't we (the Council) really begin by blaming ourselves for having created our own custom?
And a general, nonpartisan question to all bloggers...

Bad question.
I can't support any elected, appointed official or town employee who;
Does not act in the best interests of the town.
Supports developers who use dirty tricks, phoney polls and mis-information to get their projects approved.
Use their position to get information that they or their associates can personally gain from.
Don't get outraged when the public is denied information on the Town Plan and Text Change or help to deny the public of any information.
Attack individuals without just cause and who will not make a complete unconditional apology and still want to leave a cloud of suspicion.
Are not strong enough to admit when they are wrong.
Are not strong enough to stand on their own and who will fold to support the majority.
Talk a lot and say nothing.
I voted for "throw the bums out!" But for the record, that's with the exception of Tim White.
I don't think that they were wrong.
It's a shame the herald hasn't hired an old-fashioned investigative reporter. Sharon Bass does a fantastic job in Hamden. We need some news hounds to keep the town government honest.
Shenanigate is one thing, but I want a light to be trained onto conflict-of-interest concerns.

I like the Cheshire Herald
They are fair and balanced
They got to the bottom of the dategate thing showing that the system is flawed
Now we have to investigate why the dates were changed
I think it should read throw the Schrumm's out
Throw out anyone who voted for the W/S, Bowman, Calcagni mall which will turn Cheshire into an extension of Southington and will result in higher taxes.
Throw the greedy developers and their supporters out.
