There will be two trials

From the NHRs Randall Beach:

In a terse, one-sentence action, state prosecutors in the Cheshire triple homicide case have withdrawn their controversial motion for a joint trial of the two defendants.

The Superior Court filing, signed by State’s Attorney Michael Dearington and Senior Assistant State’s Attorney Gary Nicholson, simply said, “The state hereby withdraws its motion for a joint trial.” It was filed Sept. 16.

That is sad...now Dr. Petit will have to live through the first trial scheduled to start in January and then the second sceduled for the following January.

What a legal system we have....

At least those two scum animals can play Wii while they wait.

Now watch each of them accuse the other of being the actual murderer, hoping the juries will ignore the legal principle of joint venture, each hoping to escape the just penalty.

So now the trials will be less about truth finding, and more about whose lawyer is more clever at asserting technicalities, even though they are both plainly and equally guilty of murder.

This is what happens when liberal defense lawyers dominate the legislature and the courts, writing the laws and the rules of trial.

well, what sort of message did we send by voting out Al Adinolfi and electing the uber-yuppie lawyer Elizabeth Esty in his place?

Yep, the woman who claims her church tells her it's wrong to kill murderers but wrote legal briefs in favor of abortion on demand and assisted suicide?

Seems "guilty life' should be accorded the right to life. Innocent life?, naw.

Esty's church tells her it's wrong to execute murderers but it's OK to butcher pre-natal babies. Yet the liberals will be the first to scream "separation of church and state" when a church disagrees with them.

The activist liberal mind is most situational when it comes to defining right and wrong. For example, the wars were bad under Bush, but the wars are justifiable under Obama.

Activisit liberals are unbothered by such self-contradictions in their positions. In order to serve the First Commandment of modern feminism: Thou shalt not interfere with abortion, all truth and common sense are turned upside-down.

"Of all tyrannies, a tyranny exercised for the good of its victims is the most oppressive. It may be better to live under robber barons than under omnipotent moral busybodies."
-- C.S. Lewis

In the case of defense lawyers and left-wing activists like Esty, make that "amoral busybodies".
