Machinists union suing Pratt & Whitney

From the AP:

The Machinists union asked a federal judge Tuesday to block Pratt & Whitney from moving 1,000 jobs from Connecticut, accusing the jet engine maker of negotiating in bad faith.

The International Association of Machinists said in court papers filed in U.S. District Court in Hartford that Pratt & Whitney executives failed to make "every reasonable effort" to preserve the jet engine repair jobs in Connecticut.

The subsidiary of United Technologies Corp. announced Monday it will shut its Cheshire plant by early 2011 and shift some operations from its East Hartford facility beginning in the second quarter of next year. Work will be moved to Columbus, Ga., Singapore and Japan.

Brilliant. Let's just prove more clearly how hostile CT is to business so we have even fewer new businesses set up shop here or relocate from other states.

Once we only had a sales tax and things were O'K, then we got casino money, but that was not enough, so Wieker pushed through the income tax during a recession and that was to solve everything. Well since that time, they continued their spending spree and never looked back. And now, during the worst depression since the 30's they still can't reign in their glutinous appetite to spend and all they have to do is to continue to tax us to death.

It's no wonder companies are fleeing Ct and the sad thing is that our legislators don't care. We need term limits and that's the only way to get rid of the incompetence.

Pratt machinists should offer to decertify their union throwing off the shackles union leadership has thrust upon its members. Now that would be a statement to Pratt; the machinists are willing to work with management minus the union middleman. After that gets done then they should sue the state of CT for creating an unhealthy work environment for labor and management.

Thanks to the Democratic legislators Pratt & Whitney is closing two plants; over the years your Democratic legislators have consistently passed legislation that is unfriendly to business. I/E, Unfunded Mandates, Corporate Taxes, Sir Charges on Corporate Taxes mandates on Health Insurance that increases the cost of Medical Insurance, high Minimum Wages, we did it to ourselves. Connecticut is rated as one of the worst states in the US to do business. In the meantime Esty our Democratic or should I say Socialistic party state Representative is indirectly calling Pratt & Whitney liars and miss leading.
http://www.myrecordjournal.com/site/tab1.cfm?newsid=20373421&BRD=2755&PAG=461&dept_id=592709&rfi=6 She seems to forget that Pratt & Whitney has other plants in Connecticut and insulting their intelligence and decision making credentials are not a good way to make friends.
