Cheshire house party for Sam Caligiuri for Senate

As many of you know, Cheshire's junior state Senator is Sam Caligiuri. Sam is running for the Republican nomination to run against US Senator Chris Dodd (D).

This afternoon, Bob and Lori Murphy hosted a small gathering for Sam. Here are a few photos I took at the event:Sam delivered a great stump speech. He really is a fantastic speaker. And while I already knew much of his comments - such as his principled opposition to the state budget that ended deep in the red this summer - I learned something new. Sam Caligiuri is a big supporter of equal rights for homeschooling parents. I can't really speak much to this, but I have heard from a few parents - who homeschool - that schools around the state don't treat them fairly.

I suspect that due to his voting record... in the GOP primary, Sam will get a great deal of support among homeschoolers.

As for me, I was glad to hear Sam's stump speech include a mention of the need for improved monetary policy.

So, you think the Democrats will elect three members? Which ones?

That stooge for Marty Coburn and the NE developer Adinolfi? ...or one of the cement heads?

GOP is finished said...

yes you are correct. the council will be six democrats and three republicans

Gotta love those Dems who monitor this site.
They must be running scared.

Either that or they realize that this is the only place that speaks the truth and tells the people of this town what is really happening.

Perhaps if they started paying more attention to being fiscally responsible, this town wouldn't be in the poor shape it's in right now.

Lets hope the Republicans sweep this November.

Might telling us what the Democrats have done in four years besides :
a)ignore the pool issue
B)approve a North End development that will become the Co-op City of CT (brilliant move, Marty!)
c) lobby for unnecessary turf and pretty sidewalks
d) approve the most unaffordable BOE contract in the state last year.

Besides that, they've done a heckuva a job...just like the guy who ran Katrina!

To the Gang of 5 who control the town Council: these words by Oliver Cromwell in dismissing the tyrannical rump Parliament in 1653 seem appropo to you today:

“It is high time for us to put an end to your sitting in this place, which you have dishonored by your contempt of all virtue, and defiled by your practice of every vice.

Ye are a factious crew, and enemies to all good government; ye are a pack of mercenary wretches, and would sell your (town) for a mess of pottage, and like Judas betray your God for a few pieces of money.

Is there a single virtue now remaining amongst you? Is there one vice you do not possess? Ye have no more religion than my horse; gold is your god; Which of you have not bartered your conscience for bribes? Is there a man amongst you that has the least care for the good of the people?

Ye sordid prostitutes, you have defiled this sacred place, and turned the Lord's temple into a den of thieves, by your immoral principles and wicked practices.

Ye are grown intolerably odious to the whole (town); you who were deputized here by the people to get grievances redressed, are yourselves grievous! So! In the name of God, just go!”
