Excluding the BOE, town government costs increase by 1.52%. That 1.52% is for work at 5 days a week, 52 weeks per year including fighting fires, trash collection, and snow plowing etc when needed.
Why do BOE expenses need to increase by 2.09%? This is beyond those of the rest of town government by about 37%. BOE staff works about 6 hrs a day, 5 days per week for about 38 weeks but their expenses are increasing at a much greater rate then anything else town government does.
If all town government, excluding BOE, can be held to a 1.52% increase it would seem only reasonable that the BOE should be made to match or improve upon that number.
Before any school budget is accepted, the school board and superintendent should agree to a comprehensive review and evalualtion of the entire school system to determine haw to cut costs. Maybe the answer is to outsource the school system, including the administration.
It makes no sense to have added teachers and classrooms when the student population has been declining.
The BOE & Town budgets combined are increasing spending by 3.5%. The $1,258,000 fund equity transfer is being used making it appear that the bottom line is going down.
The town & boe need to stop spending! Stop using taxpayer surpluses to bail out your budgets! Those surpluses should go back to the taxpayers.

So where is that fund equity transfer of $1,258,000 coming from?

The school budget is totally out of control.

Yes we have been overtaxed the last few years. Someone should pay attention to this.
