My dad, Rep. Esty, the Constitution & Declaration

My dad was in Hartford today. He went to support a bill introduced by Sen. Gaffey. The bill relates to the placement of a US Constitution and Declaration of Independence in every school in CT.

While my dad was there, he was joined by Rep. Esty in support of the bill. I thank her for her visible support. Sen. Caligiuri wasn't there, but he's also offered his support.

Last year, Congressman Murphy supported a similar bill in Washington.

Does this bill provide for educational programs to go along with them?

Who pays for these framed documents? We question every other expenditure. Who paid for the ones we have in every school in Cheshire? If the funds were privately donated, I would like to applaud the benefactor.

Of course no one would speak against the Constitution or Declaration of Independence, but how does this benefit education? Are students going to stop in the hallway and read them?

I would rather see student created projects on the importance of each document or a guest speaker to engage the students in a discussion on their importance.

Hanging them in a school will not make children partiotic or respectful of these documents.

Are you kidding me?
With that thinking, we might as well take the flag out and stop saying the plege of allegiance.
The documents that built this great nation should be displayed in our schools. Whether all the students or 1 student sees it.
I know my kids have done projects on these document.
You need to stop worrying about the $10 it cost to put it in a frame. Look at the big picture. I would be more than happy to pay that.
I applaude Mr. White for his efforts!
